i just did my oil change this sunday and i checked how much oil came out. it was only missing about 3/4 of a quart. i change my oil when the cluster tells me to, so i say about 10-12k miles. i do not leak engine oil, so i figure it must be burning a little bit. i'm at 99,100 miles as of today. also i switched over to mobil 1, we'll see how it goes with different oil.

damn issac seems like your check engine light pops up often!

the thermostats in our cars are computer controlled. its really easy to change it out! you should have replaced it when you did the hoses, might aswell do the water pump too if you havent done that yet.

Wilcax is 100% correct. The thermostats are de-energized open and energized closed. Meaning that if or whenever there is a thermostat failure, it will remain open to prevent overheating your motor.

When our engines start, the computer commands the thermostat to close. This will allow the engine to warm up to a certain value. Once the coolant reaches a certain temperature, the water temperature sensor sends that signal to the computer. The computer will then remove power from the thermostat, allowing it to open and send the coolant through the engine block.

Basically, what's happening is your thermostat isn't closing and your engine is working extra hard to try warming up, therefor will run too lean on both banks, giving you the lean codes.

A temporary remedy for this is on your first start of the morning, turn your temperature knob down (till you see three blue dots.) This will keep the heater valve closed. When the temperature knob is high(three red dots), the coolant that is trying to get warm is taking longer because it's running through your heater core to heat the cabin. Keeping the temp knob on cool until the engine warms up will increase your warmup time.
