Sony 1200 Watt amp

Is this a good amp? I'm an audio newbie so I don't know what amp to get. I'm thinking about getting 1 12" kickersolobaric l7. But I don't know what amp to get.

I'm not too familiar w/ the L7's - I suggest looking at their power handling and getting an amp that has an rms of at least 2/3s of the sub's max power handling.

Sony's are known for overrating their power figures, so beware the 1000w x 1 at 1 ohm (I'd doubt the amp is even stable at 1 ohm) While I think their home audio equipment is decent, I really don't have much confidence in their mobile audio stuff.

Honestly, you're better off saving for a higher quality amp. Why spend $$ for a kicker L7 and not get a better amp?

With most products, I would have no problem with Sony. However, their explode lineup sucks big time. Their amps have one of the highest failure/return rates. xplod=garbage. I would look into a different amp.

k... thanks for the info guys... I wasn't to sure about the sony either, cause it was kinda cheap for a 1200 amp.
