HID fogs vs 9006 Silverstar bulbs
hi guys. I wanna buy a set of HID's for my fogs, and I was just wondering of good brand names, cause i am finding lots, and i have not heard of alot of them.
I saw Xtec brand, but I am not impressed by the DDE's I bought or the service now (inverter blew and i get no response from e-mailing them), so I am debating even looking at those. I know they'll be expensive (may buy 6000k d2s xenon replacements too so trying to sneak a deal), so i am wondering if anyone has just installed the sylvania silverstar 9006 4100k bulbs? do they make a diff over the factory yellowish bulbs, or is there not enough power to run these silverstars brightly enough? any help would be great. |

from what i'm told the silverstars tend to burn out fairly fast due to the brightness. if you want to go HID try prolumen.

If you have some extra money laying around, I would also suggest getting prolumen hid's. I have tried the other light bulbs that give off an hid look, but was not fully satisfied until i changed them out to the hid fogs. Now I use them everytime my headlights are on.

+1 on the Silverstars. I bought some for $20 a pop for my old car. They blew within the year and I put my stock ones back in. Dont waste money on the Silverstars.

what bulbs do you have in your headlights? OEM? If you have 5k or 6k there, buy the Prolumen kit, etc and match the color. If you have OEM bulbs there, do what I did and get rebased OEM bulbs:

Prolumen you say... hmmm where is a good place to buy them online, cause I dont think any stores in canada sell them regularily around me in alberta anyhow.
I have he 4300k oem hid lights, what would best match them or should i just upgrade to new d2s lights and hid fogs with 5000k or 6000k all around? |

I have the exact same problemw ith my xtecs.. the problem: i can't justify buying a new set when there is a lifetime warranty on the xtecs and everytime the ballast stops working they send me a new one

)Luckily I have HID fogs which are bright enough to substitute in for my hid headlights till i get the passenger side ballast replaced

sna77 yeah i clicked the link from what you had and i was impressed with how they'll match my factory 4300k lights currently.
i wat as much light as possible from the kit, and i know going to a 6000 or even just a 5000k will make the color bluer (more eye pleasing) but I'll loose some brightness of them and i am getting them cause i drive a dark highway a LOT. so far you're satisfied eh? how muych diid you pay and where do they come from (germany, usa...) |
