Possible New BMW 4-Door Coupe...?!

CLS fighter.

BMW is planning a four-door coupe to compete with the Mercedes CLS-Class, according to the latest issue of Germany's AutoBild magazine. Unlike the CLS, this car will have suicide doors, according to the report. The car has no B-pillar, and is reminiscent of the 1990s BMW 8-Series. In fact, we suspect the only logical nameplate to use for this project would be 8-Series. We have yet to see the full article, so we're not sure when the magazine reckons this "sensational" car will be available. However, we do have a cover scan of the latest issue after the jump…

i honestly think ppl on this forum could make a better 4 door coupe than that... that manipulation is terrible... you can see the grill is just copy/paste

It would be a nice addition to the BMW lineup but I do feel they may be spreading themselves a bit thin... x3, x5, z4, 3, 5, 6, & 7... this may be getting a little out of hand

I love the MB CLS and I would bet BMW will giv MB a good run for their money.

MB has always been classy where BMW was aggressive.

i've been thinking about selling the 3'er for a cls...but maybe i'll be patient. just hope it doesn't look like that, lol.

Doesn't seem like a smart move on BMWs part to build a car to battle the CLS. I mean that can't be that big of a market segment... where's the profit money going to come from versus the amount of money spent on R&D for the car?

suicide doors? most likely the rear ones...so....an expensive rx-8, ok.... whatever works! the cls is ugly IMO and there's really no need for bmw to try and compete for that market. there aren't that many cls's out there.

I think this would be very intresting, but Im curiouse as to which direction BMW would lean towards .... would it be more luxoriouse like the 7 or more sport oriented like a 6. And I know i know that picture is just a concept they came up with if it looks anything like that the will definatly have a hard time selling. BTW the suicide doors is a nice touch!

at first i have to say that this magazine "Autobild" is more like yellow press. most of their pictures are made of photoshop, which has been mentioned above.

Concerning the X6, it is roumored that there will be a very sporty SUV. imho are both cars, the 4 door coupé and the X6, only roumers yet. If one or both of these carswill be released, it will happen after 2008 because in 2007/2008 the new F01 will be relaesed.
