My Ride: 2002 BMW 330i
Talking Less than 2 hours until I receive delivery of my new ride

Old ride...

The city Bus

New Ride and 1st car to boot...

2002 BMW 330i
Titanium Silver Metallic
Sports Package
Grey Montana Leather
Steptronic
Myrtle Wood Trim
Moon Roof - STD in Canada
Rain Sensor
Security Studs
Bi-Xenon Headlights - STD in Canada
Heated Front Seats - STD in Canada

MRSP including freight & PDI...$55,200 CDN ($35,341.57 USD)
Bought it for...$53,820 CDN ($34,469.06 USD) with Security Studs thrown in for free.

Can Anyone tell me why the Moon Roof, Bi-Xenon Headlights, and Heated front seats are all standard here in Canada and not the U.S.?

This car with all these options in the US has a MRSP of $41,785 USD...or $65,234.74 CDN. But, don't forget to add in freight, PDI and Sales Tax!

Mind you, here in Canada I have to pay 15% sales tax...so the $53,820 becomes $61,893 CDN. But Still, it is way effin' cheaper to buy it in Canada.

By the way...I'm 23 and this is my first car...and I pay $2400 CDN a year insurance...or $1,535.71 USD

The cheapest insurance I found was through AON.
www.aon.com

For a price comparison...Allstate wanted $4800 CDN or $3,071.41 USD.

AON was half price...and no, the policy wasn't for 6 months. 1 year.

Hey, a penny saved is one more penny for the stock market...and sooner or later with some great skill and luck...that penny become 2 more pennies (2 more pennies for MODS).

2 all of you that had your Bimmer bought by mommy and daddy...well...all I can say is that it is just not right.

Respect goes out to all of you proud SELF-MADE BMW owners!

hey i resent that! i do pay half the monthly payment and did put some money down, but my parents helped a lot. i dont think there is anything wrong with that. some people arent as lucky as you to have the money to throw down on a $40000+ car. more power to you if you do, but dont insult the young guys here who had their parents help out. it pays to be a good son

Otto's. Actually I'm leasing, but I consider it buying because I intend to purchase the vehicle at the end of the lease. I figure the extra 8 thousand CDN bucks that I'll put out to lease rather than buying it outright will be well worth it. I put $15,000 CDN down + the tax on that down payment.

I could pay cash for the vehicle now but wish to leave some of my investments intact. Besides, with the uncertainty in the middle east...rising natural gas prices...some of my oil/natural gas rich plays will do very well. Off topic now...if you are looking for a very undervalued natural gas/oil company...take a look at Centurion Energy...CUX: TSE. Current market cap about $36,669,908...fair book value...$77,493,000...double you money value investing.

Playing the stock broker now too .

ACK! I just noticed you got the Steptronic over Manual, what's wrong with you ?

I am sure I will see you around the city, are there any Ottawa area meets for Bimmers that you know of? I know there are meets in the Bank / Altavista area that are a mix of everything from Junk --> Luxury, some nice vehicles there but some ricers too .

Congrats on your new BMW

I think us Montreal and Ottawa guys should meet up some time. I'm from Montreal and so far I don't know anybody else on e46fanatics, at least I now know that there are 2 e46fanatics in Ottawa. By the way this weekend there is a big modified car show at Place Bonaventure in Montreal. Last year I saw some fixed up bimmers.

Holy Crap!, I just bought a 328Ci, and I'm paying CDN$3300. I shopped around a lot of brokers in the city and this is by far the best i could do. I'll be calling AON immediately. BTW I'm 26, so my rate should definitely be cheaper than yours. (Are you married?) They said it was high because It's been so long since I insured a vehicle that I have in effect NO insurance history. Ha, Ha, the insurance agent actually says, "You might as well have an impaired."

I'll let you know how I make out.
