DIY help request door actuator
Hello everyone, I purchased a 2002 325i for my daughter. I received only one remote and it didn't work. that was ok as long as the key opened the door, but that stopped working. I found that the lock itself was ok, and ordered a new driver door actuator. I got the door panel off fine, but can't figure out how to move the window frame enough to get the actuator out. I removed the two obvious 10mm bolts, but the frame is still attached to the window and will not pivot. I can't find any diy for disconnecting the frame from the window. if someone could let me know how to do this without causing any damage, I would really appreciate the help. Thanks in advance!

you have to remove the window off the guide. there's a bolt with a red clip> remove it and pull the window up, and that'll do the trick..

the window bolt
Haurelio, that sounds exactly like what i have to do, but at the risk of sounding foolish how do i get to it? When i lowered the window a little i can see a gray plastic piece which covers what looks like about a 6mm bolt that definately goes through the window, but there is no room to get a open end wrench in there. the other diy's say you need to access a reverse torx size seven, through a small access hole you line up, but that can't be for the 2002 325i, it just dosen't look the same. Please reply when possible, i know i can handle the rest of the job if i can only get that bolt out to give me enough room to wiggle the actuator out, i'm just afraid to break the window and lose all the money i saved on the diy buying a new one.

look at step 13 on this. http://www.bmwgm5.com/rear_window_regulator.htm
once you removed that bolt,(make sure you don't strip it). pull the window up, and lastly remove actuator.. http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=600213. I also removed the window regulator to get more space, don;t think is required though Last edited by haurelio; 10-02-2012 at 08:05 PM. |
