new ballast..not working?

hey guys ive had predator chromiums for about a year now...have always worked great no problems...then about 5 days ago the left side went out completly. I took out the ballast and swapped it with the right one..and the right side worked on both sides....so i had jlevi send me a new ballast..and this one doesnt work on either side. The ballast itself looks a little different then mine..it seems like its made out of a different material plastic...and the wires are black and red. The little package also came with little clips that look like they are connected to the black wires that connect to the ballast. Do i need to cut of the exisiting connecters and solder these one on to the ends to connect to the new ballast..or is this ballast just dead too?.....i tried it on both sides..then tried my old working one on both sides and its fine..so i know there is no short or anything. Please let me know

thanks
Jason
