just found out.... (could be old news for some ppl)

I think this is only on the 02 models..

We all know we can turn off the traction control.. and I've read debates about the 2 stages (traction off/ traction COMPLETELY off) by pressing the AST button once and pressing it for like 5 sec.. There seems to be no proves about this 5sec thing..(unless you really tried it out).. But today, as my friend puts his 323 into service... and he got the 02' 320i to f around.. the goal was to prove that BMW is the ultimate driving machine.... some stunt moves were pulled.. we managed to find out that the AST is cutting off the power even when it was turned off.. but after the 5sec magic... not only the traction signal came on, the handbrake light came on in YELLOW..!!! ---> NO MORE CUT OFFs !!! so basically we saw it as a prove for the two stage traction....moreover... by pulling on the handbrake.. depends on how much you pull.. you can see the handbreak indicator showing all sorts of colours !!! .. I remember seeing green, orange, yellow.. red.. etc .. it tripped us out!!! anyway, so I came home and tried the magic on my 02' 325; it has the same indications!! However.. it didnít' happen on my friend's 323.
.

go try it on your car~

There are 2 stages

to some of the traction controls. On the earlier production 330s, you could only push the button once. But on the later production cars, you could disable both the traction control and the DSC by holding the button down for 3 seconds. The traction control light will turn yellow.

Does that mean that on the 323 one push turns off both stages? Or that you can't turn off both stages, only the first?
