Does my car have DSP?

I'm trying to find an inexpensive solution for my integration needs (would like to spend a max of $200, but less would be better, obviously).

I have a 2001 325Ci.

I want a product that can play audio from my iPhone4S, be it ipod music, spotify, podcasts, etc. It also needs to integrate hands free bluetooth and also needs to charge the phone.

The one thing I require is that it does all of this through the iPhone connector. I don't want to have to plug/unplug multiple chords each time I go in/out of the vehicle. A "dock" or mountable cradle would be ideal, but not necessary.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

I've found a few on websites and they ask if I have a "behind the radio" or "in the trunk" connection, and if I have DSP. My car has the Harmon Kardon sound but no navigation. It says "CD Prewiring" on the trunk. I do not have a DSP button, but I do have the speaker button below the sunglass cubby hole. Does that mean DSP?

Thanks!

No E46s came equipped with DSP. DSP was installed in some E39s (5-series from late 1990s) and some older 7-series cars.

There is no convection on the rear of the head unit of your car. How do I know? I have a 2001 330Ci. You gave 2 options:
- buy a later model head unit
- connect via the CD changer cables

I have a DICE unit that connects to the changer's cable. Works fine with my iPhone 5 (using a lightning adapter).

Search this and other BMW forums for your solution.

Thanks for that. I think I've settled on a Dice Mediabridge... looks like it does everything and you can get it on Amazon for $150. Sweet deal (I hope).

I've used a Dice media bridge for the last 3 years....When i had gotten it, i liked it but eventually i started getting annoyed. Its slow, navigating songs is a pain if you want to do it through the radio buttons...
Bluetooth is not very good on it.. At some point during the various firmware updates,, the bluetooth audio streaming turned terrible. The music had like a ghostly spacious sound...

At the same time for the price and without any modification to the car's oem equipment, it was best option back then and from a price point it still probably is..

Though if you have HK sound system like me, you WILL get noticible static interference and CLICKING sound. Now that i have the Avin avant 2, i still have the interference which turns out is due to the oem amplifires or our cars.

To be honest, the best sound quality that i got from an ipod/iphone was by using the aux cable plugged into the back off the radio. It was the best sound ever. No static, no noise, crystal clear sound. On top of that it took me 30 min to DIY an aux cable for the radio.

Ya, you're lucky you have an 03. pre-03's do not have the aux input on the back of the radio
