How much does a tint ticket cost in New York?

What are the consequences/ticket costs of getting a window tint ticket in New York state. Im considering getting them for my black bimmer, Not totally dark though had them before and could barely see at night.

The only other reason I wouldnt get them is because people would see me in my HOT car haha!

On my teg I had 20% back windows, 30% front 2, now on my bimmer I have 35% all around, cleaner look for a black car, if you go too black then youll have a problem.

I got 5% all around (excluding windshield) and the only time I got a ticket in NY was last year. Originally, the cop stopped me for speeding but gave me a ticket for my tint on top of my speeding ticket.

I also got a ticket this year in CT during one of those random police check points.

My point is, I doubt that police in NY are going to pull you over JUST for your tint. I think that tint is the last thing on their mind when patroling the streets or highways. But if they do stop you for any other violation, they probabaly will add a tint violation when they're writing your ticket.

I haven't taken my tint off because of the tickets. It's more of a pain in the azz. I usually just send the ticket in, marked Guilty, and pay the fine. If you go to court, be prepared to prove to the judge that the tint is off your car.

I'd just get the legal limit (35%) and not have to worry about any ticket.

According to who?

Section 375 (12-a) of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law does not allow a windshield or front side windows that are dark. The windshield and front side windows cannot block more than 30% of the light. Seventy percent or more of the light from the outside must pass through the window. This law also applies to the rear window unless the vehicle has outside rear-view mirrors on both sides. The mirrors must give the driver a full and clear view behind the vehicle.

If the vehicle is classified as a station wagon, sedan, hardtop, coupe, hatchback or convertible, the rear side windows must also allow at least seventy percent of light from the outside to pass through the window.

It is illegal to sell, offer for sale, or install glass that does not comply with this law. It is illegal to operate a vehicle with glass that does not comply with this law.

If a medical condition requires a person to have tinted vehicle windows, they can request an exemption from the law. Request form MV-80W from a DMV Office or Call Center.

That is incorrect, you can have a 75% tint on ur front windows, anything lower than 75% is illegal, but 75% is practically no tint anyhow..................................just stop being a biotch and get the friggin tint......i have 20%, makes the car look sleak, and my car is black also..............and if you want people to see you, "ROLL DOWN THE FRIGGIN WINDOW"

Blocking 30% of the light = 70% tint

30% tint = 30% of the light getting through
