Umnitza Angel Eyes

I was a proud owner of Umnitza's Multi Colored Angel eyes. Not so much anymore. I purchased these about a year and a half ago, and have had problems ever since. As these are not my first set ( previously an owner of Khoalty) and have not had any of these problems i will list.

1st Problem: The angle eyes shown in the picture is not what you get. The rings are all the same size and fit very poorly. Not what i paid $300.00 for.

2nd Problem. The harness actually melted at where it connects to the terminal, also melting where the ecu connection is. Not very safe, considering the car is quite dependent on it and is not a cheap part to fix . They exclaimed sorrow. in their email, because calling them is not really an option, and told me i could pay to have a new one sent and then would be refunded the money.. Silly considering the fact i had enough pictures to prove it.
Their repsonse
Chaz,

Thank you for your email.
There is likely a poor voltage issue with your main terminal here. This part isn’t covered but the good news is that you can fix this issue in less than 3 minutes with a $2 connector at any radio shack.
You basically will cut off your old connector past the melted point, then just put on a new connector where it used to be, crimp it down.

There is one other cause for this – if the two connectors are vibrating together and occasionally arcing together, it can cause this, best to make sure they simply touch all the time OR don’t have any proximity in touching at that “bridged” location

3rd problem: Ongoing for a few weeks here, An angel eye has been half lit. When i tap on it , it lights up all the way for a few seconds, and then goes back to its half lit stage. As you can see here
Its quite embarassing to drive around with one half lit. Their response's

Nov. 18th
Can you see if it’s just the ring or the box by switching them around?

I tried that to no avail. Few weeks later, i uploaded the above video. Their response
12/31
-Umnitza-So if you hit the ring, it won’t flicker anymore. Otherwise it does? How cold is it outside?
-(Me)I live in florida and its 70 outside.
-Umnitza-It’s definitely the ring. Can you please send it back to us on Thursday and we’ll replace it for you? we need to identify an issue with it first prior to sending you a new one.

Now obviously im a little upset and irritated at the fact they sport a lifetime or a 5 year warranty. Im dissapointed. My Khoalty AE's were 100 bucks and never had these problems. I just figured i would let the board know of my problems, before they consider purchasing the multicolor angel eyes from umnitza. Happy Holidays.

Umnitza Angel Eyes

I would just get rid of them completely, angel eyes are a nice touch, but not worth the troubles they produce. Good luck buddy with the AE's

ring sizing...are you sure you got the right ones? the sedans and coupe rings are both completely different. you may have gotten the coupe instead of sedan rings.

I'm most likely going to go back to my Khoalty set. At least that worked.

I had called them when I first received them and asked the same question. Obviously I know that my car is a sedan. And they replied with I was sent the right set of rings. I should have sent the AE back then.

We appreciate your comments. The warranty is for the parts. Just like buying from a store, you still have to take the time to go back to the store and get it exchanged.* As for the wiring harness, installation factors greatly into the decision to charge for a harness.

Without knowing the exact information about your case, I can't tell you why you were charged for it, but if you still have the details

The above is their response to my message to them more or less complaining as to why I have to send them back items that are broken on my own money. I assume that I followed their directions wrong as my mechanic as to the installation.

Your warranty is a lifetime on all angel eyes, this doesn't cover return shipping after 30 days and is a policy we have listed on our site.
Our multi-color rings use a little more advanced design than the Orion V2 or the Orion V4 and this design can occasionally lead to a premature failure.

To ship a ring back, just put it into a padded envelope or small box and ship it back using first class mail - about $2-5.
Once we receive it, we'll examine, test, and replace the ring.

Thanks for the post. I was considering these halos, but everything that can ever go wrong with my lights does go wrong. These are probably not for me, as before, I didn't know that they had any problems.

Occasional failure..... I will send it back no worries.

I'm sure you're right, but if I was looking to get quality parts, eBay wouldn't be my first option. Mainly because ***252;mnitza is an actual company and also they have the lifetime warranty, I'd end up paying for their product. I'm not saying one is better than the other, it's solely about comfort in buying the product. I don't feel as safe *hoping* that I play my cards right on eBay.

Too often all the item get lumped together.

We have never hidden the fact that Orion Lite kits are the same ones sold on eBay. Our pricing is very aggressive on them but it still does take into account that we have to offer a warranty on them longer than "feedback warranty" on ebay.

Orion V2 are not found on eBay or other places - sure there are a few knock-offs floating around but 5 years on the market, the only product with an indestructible lifetime warranty says something.
Orion V2.5 is a mixture of V2 and V4, eventually it will take over the V2 mantle once inventory of the V2 is depleted.
Orion V4 also have a lifetime warranty but have no equal - though they are very expensive in comparison.

Orion V2 Multi-color are unique in that they offer a wired controller solution with a very reliable base. Recently between February and May of 2013, our RGB LED supplier began skimping on some items, unfortunately, we didn't find out about this until failures started occurring on about 5% of the units rings. We're replacing everyone's rings or even full kits in some cases due to this supplier problem. Despite the naysayers who say we don't cover warranty, we always do.

Sounds like you got unlucky. I'd replace the terminals and the ring and see how it goes. The connector thing makes me think you're getting a voltage drop at the connector and it's heating up the connection. You can check that with a good multimeter.

We are now and have always been committed to the satisfaction of every customer. Some customers choose to vent frustration on forums prior to working out issues with us. As is the case with the customer here, we will resolve their issue to their satisfaction.

As we know, there are always two sides of the story, while we have made mistakes, we also have corrected them. Every customer has a right to voice their opinion or displeasure, but we all know it's easier to be upset and vent than it is to post a positive review. That is why it's even more incredible to see how many positive reviews we've had over 15 years in the business:

Reviews from our customers.

Extremely satisfied with Umnitza's products and customer service. They have gone out of their way to make me happy. They even helped me ship big ticket items bought from other resellers. I bought their M5 body kit painted for my E60 BMW and couldn't be happier. They're very knowledgeable with their products and help you with the decision making. I give then five stars.

I would just like to express how impressed I am with your customer service. Even a year after my purchase you are still quick to respond to my questions. Even though my issue is from how I installed the rings, your dedicated to help me fix the problem. Umnitza is definitely my lighting source for all future mods!

Purchased Orion V2 angel eyes from Umnitza and had some trouble with the install as the instructions were not overly clear. However, I reached out to Umnitza support and they promptly called to walk me through possible solutions, figured out my problem in 10 minutes. Great support, great product, would definitely buy from Umnitza again

Called up Umnitza and spoke with Tim who provided me with excellent customer service. Ordered the Predator Orion V4 LED Angel Eyes for my 2013 BMW E92 M3. Man, their product is amazing! After installation, my opinion is that all BMW headlamps should come like this from the factory. Umnitza's awesome angel eyes combined with their great customer service makes me one happy customer!

I went to Umnitza for rims on my 2000 BMW 540 (E39). I was worried about fitment because I was upgrading to 19" rims. They assured me that with the correct tires, fitting 19s would be no problem as long as I followed their guidelines. I waited anxiously for the rims to arrive, which they shipped very quickly. Had my local shop throw them on, and it was a perfect fit, just as promised.

They've got a loyal customer for all my BMW needs!!!

I have been ordering products from Umnitza for years and they never cease to amaze me. The LED rings they offer are Great products. Recently I ordered a set of wheels and for no reason they upgraded the shipping to overnight from CA to NY at no cost!! I had to leave a 5 star review for that alone.Their customer service is great also! Responded to emails quickly and informatively.Truly made this purchase painless. Cant wait to buy from again!
Thank you!

I contacted Umnitza regarding their ICE Lite BMW LED Upgrade Angel Eyes (H8). They answered my concerns, I placed the order and had the product within the specified shipping time. I installed the LED's in no time flat (5 minutes), but had concerns regarding the extended cables and adaptors.. sent an email and had a response within the hour (by then I had already sorted my issue but that aside and hour is a decent amount of time.. ) and so far everything is still good.

Pro's: Fast (even for someone who really wants instant answers) communication, clear instructions and overall satisfied experience.

Con's: The brightness of the LED's shown in their ad is not comparable to the brightness I am actually receiving from the lights.. inner lights are bright, outer halo's are not even close to the ad's brightness. Kind of sad there, as that was what I was going for..

My son has been buying headlight conversions here for years. My Prius headlight bulb went dead three years later, and Umnitza replaced it on the spot, with the difficult maneuver necessary on the right hand Prius light.

The BMWs are lined up outside getting fixed up- maybe instead of ordering from the web store, bring your car in and let the experts size it up.

I had purchased the M5Tech kit and ofcourse when it came to installation, the front bumper needed modification for it to fit and the washer bracket also needed some modification for it to fit. YES it was frustrating but John & Leo at ///Motorcepts did an outstanding job with the paint work and installation. (Thanks John & Leo).

The rear M5 bumper has a slope/droop at the bottom where it looks shitty. I am ordering an OEM M5 rear bumper as I type now.

With that said, you cannot be too upset with the company that sells these products at a low cost price. After all it is Aftermarket.

Trinity Autosport and other companies on eBay sells the same bumpers, and these bumpers are all coming from one factory in China.

If you are dissatisfied with the aftermarket bumpers these companies sell, go buy yourself OEM bumpers.

Now, when they experience a negative one with all this media, FB, Twitter, and forums, they feel that they need to tell the whole world. Why me, Why me. During my recent buying spree I came across negative events with my purchases. The vendors tried to satisfy my request in the best possible way. Sometimes the vendors can't satisfied everyone. I never made a negative comment on any forum. As you are aware 95% of the stuff that we buy is made in China, Taiwan or Indonesia. Don't blame the vendors, they work with what they can get. They perform due diligence in trying to get the best product possible to satisfied our secular addiction. I'm new to this forum, but I do see how various members try to steer new members to certain vendors. Don't take me wrong, that sometimes could be positive. What is wrong is negatively producing noise were is not deserve. Before you open your trap, think that these companies are here to provide us with the best service they can offer and that your negative comments can hurt and sometimes shut a business down. A great percentage of their sales originate from these forums. They're here to serve us and not to steal your excess cash. Please consider that these guys have families to feed. Paradigm shift, look at life in a positive way. Consider yourself blessed. A grand majority of the people on the other side of the world don't even have shoes or a secure meal. Here, in this side of the world we bitch because an A/E isn't sufficiently bright enough or a bulb burned prematurely.
Now, I see that you sponsor 3 vendors in your signature, that explain your evil thoughts. Any human with a semi intelligent intellect can see right thru you. I've spend well over $2000.00 on a painted M5 body kit with the dark side according to your interpretation of Umnitza. The shop told me that the kit fitment was perfect. I'm more than totally satisfied. They are still helping me with shipping on items bought over at salvage yards. Now that's what you call customer service. You wrongly gang up on a company so members become part of the collective of the businesses that you blindly sponsor. Resistance is not futile. Google it. Take it light and bring it. Anything will do to spark and spice up this forum.

That's funny I've never seen any of these reviews on 5series.net.

PS: Learn how to use the search option , you'll find plenty of Umnitza happy customers in various foreign and domestic car enthusiast forums. Umnitza is an innovator not a follower like you. We will not bow down.

First off, customer support, and communication with Umnitza is beyond good, its great! You can imagine how many emails, PMs, and questions in posts amongst the many forums they are present (not just this one) must be overwhelming. Yet, they still find time to answer each and every one in a timely manner. This really was one of the major factors in purchasing the headlights.

Once the order was placed, there was some wait time as they do not stock these on the shelves with certain options. If you are getting the FX-R retrofit option, along with any other mods, be prepared to wait. Mine took 2 weeks, but I am sure the wait time varies depending on the amount of custom work they have on any given day. I did not feel like this was too long, but for anyone that needs a set right away, they will not be able to get a retrofit overnight.

Upon receipt of the headlights, I noticed how nice the units were, and how OEM looking they appeared. There were obvious tell tale signs that they are not Hellas, but they are the closest looking unit to the Hellas that I am aware of. The euro sides rounded off the look very nicely. The only items I noticed that did not look totally OEM was the Angel Eyes (because I chose the orion v2 option) and the chrome projector shroud. Its very close to looking like the Hellas, but they have a different edge that goes around the projector lens. This was a very small gripe, and more of an observation since I knew it would not bother me at all once installed.

Within a few days, I installed them, first removing the old headlights and fitting the bottom covering on each headlight and reinstalling them. I had a hard time getting the plugs back onto the new sockets for the blinkers for some reason, but they eventually slipped on. I also ended up re-using the wire adapter off my previous after market angel eyes to plug into the OE plug and wire them up to the new angel eye wires as I did not want to hack up the factory harness. Installing the headlight went smooth and done within an hour.

Before buttoning everything up, I checked all the lights, and they all lit up fine of the first try. Was so happy to have quality output from the FXR units, and such a dramatic change in appearance having clear, non-oxidized headlamp lenses. Couldn't wait until it got dark to aim the projectors.

Once nightfall approached, I went to the back of a shopping center and lined up on flat ground. I was not going to measure the traditional way, but more by feel, knowing not to go too high as to blind opposing and forward traffic. After some time spent, everything came out great! A crisp, clean and WIDE beam pattern with a colorful cutoff prism, and bright white ground coverage. It took a little getting used to the sharp cutoff due to the dramatic contrast between lit and unlit areas where the cutoff is, but all in all, am so very happy that I decided to go the extra mile and get the retrofit.

Now, with the angel eyes, these things are BRIGHT! They look amazing at dusk/dawn and even at midnight, lit up an amazing portion of the road with the headlights off! I think they outperform a depo headlight projector ouich So, the pros certainly outweigh the cons here. What cons?... well I didn't, and still do not like the way they look at night when the headlights are ON. It gives a weird look in my opinion. They are super bright rings, and you see the HID projector poking its little head out of the middle. I prefer to see a system that looks like its one system working together rather than two systems almost looking separate. I contacted Umitza and they said they are coming out with a night module that dims the AEs when the headlight is turned on. Cant wait for this. The only other gripe is how they look during the day. Unless you know what you are looking for, chances are nobody will notice, but a car enthusiast may spot that they do not appear totally stock since LED rings will always look a but different. The tops of the rings expose 2 small wires that usually wont be noticeable when on the car.

Overall, I have no complaints at this point in time. They have been installed for a week, and I look forward to driving at night now. I am finding excuses to leave the house to enjoy the new headlights from Umnitza. I highly recommend the FXR retrofit into these headlights and they kill the output of hella projectors. HID projector has come a long way since the early 2000s, and these certainly are proof of this.

I hope to get pictures and videos up in the near future as time permits. Getting ready for our baby son to be born in the next 3 weeks is taking up a lot of time, so please be patient.

Sorry for the long post, but I thought I would share my experience with my new lights that will be safer for my family and I. (thats how I justified the purchase....safety for our baby )

Matt also told me my broken headlights were worth a fair amount of money on ebay and insisted I take them with me. I would never have known, and would gladly have left them behind for 'recycling'. I was very impressed with his honesty. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

One small problem--they weren't able to get the high beams working properly, which was going to require some work on the wiring. Matt hooked me up with his friend Mike at Revolution Automotive in Vallejo. He told me it should cost around $60 and assured me Mike could get everything working. Revolution did an awesome job for me. He couldn't do it while I waited so he gave me a nice loaner car, free of charge. He worked on the wiring for several days, checked a couple of other things out for me, and even offered to have his guys deliver my car (2 hours one way!!) if they couldn't get it working by the time they promised it. And he only charged me the original $60 that Umnitza estimated. Revolution's service really was above and beyond what I could have expected anywhere. If I lived anywhere near there I'd use Mike for all my car care.

Couldn't pass it up for the price I got even though it's not as fast/powerful as a 540 or m5, used as a commuter anyways. Just happy everything worked out for me in the end + am now a part of this whole bimmer family!! NOW I understand and never want to drive anything else as many of you already know that feeling lol. So enough of my background story and onto my first time experience with Umnitza.

If you're lucky enough to live in the nor cal bay area then this is definitely your first stop(possibly your last) for anything you need. You can order off their website umnitza.com and they allow local pickups if you wanna save on shipping. From lighting, to body kits, to rims, as long as you're looking for quality parts, this is where you can find it. Even if you're not from around here, everything is listed and updated so it can be shipped pretty much anywhere. Sure you might be able to find it cheaper on ebay or wherever, but why risk quality when you know for sure you're getting the better stuff, WITH reasonable prices at that!!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not here advertising for them nor am I getting anything for this but compared to other shops I've been to in the past, these guys treat their customers right. Of course I've heard stories from others their experiences with this shop didn't always go as smoothly as mine did, but you have to keep in mind, you're customer # whatever out of 100 they may have for that day. Matt and their crew get calls NON STOP all day long. I was there for 15 minutes and the phone was ringing off the hook the whole time!! He might not have time to chat with you but as long as you have a little patience, he will hook you up as he did for me. If you don't get through by phone(which can happen), you'll eventually get a response if you send in an email.

So to Matt, just want to say thanks for all your help! I am definitely a satisfied customer + have many plans to come back in the future for anything. I also must say Jesse your painter(painting is done at a separate location) did a great job painting/installing my M5 bumper!!(Even if you live across the country an order online, he can match your car as long as its a stock factory color). My car is 12 years old yet he managed to match the color beautifully. Unless you look through a magnifying glass, the match is perfect considering he didn't even see the car beforehand. I could see he had other projects going on around his shop but he still offered to take the time, stop what he was doing and stay late to install it for me which was greatly appreciated. Not too many shops care for their customers like that and even if they did, would only be after one thing- your wallet. Not the case w Jesse at all, definitely had honest and reasonable prices and could tell he cares about customers cars looking right!! I knew fitment wouldn't be perfect since I got the cheaper bumper(better one is +$100) but he made it work and it looks flawless.

For guys like me who love these cars, want to make em look proper but might not have top dollars to easily drop on em like how other folks do, both of you guys make it possible for us to enjoy the scene as well!! Thanks again

Got these from umnitza, the entire lamp assy w the halos already installed for approx $420

They start with a DEPO headlamp and add their high quality halos.

I went from cloudy lenses on the old halogens to these projectors. I love them and they look great.

The halos are very bright and the customer service was great.

By the time u add the new lenses, projectors and halos, you might as well get these. Plus you can always sell your oem set to recoup some money.

Purchased Orion V2 angel eyes from Umnitza and had some trouble with the install as the instructions were not overly clear. However, I reached out to Umnitza support and they promptly called to walk me through possible solutions, figured out my problem in 10 minutes. Great support, great product, would definitely buy from Umnitza again.

I bought my second set of headlights from these guys. The first set I bought was over 2 years ago and I have not had any issues with them. I bought a set of ZKW Headlights with DDE's and 6000k HIDs for my 1994 325is. Shipping wasnt a problem at all. I have only replaced the bulbs once since getting the kit. I bought my original kit from DDM Tuning and my Angel Eye went out 3 months after their warranty. My second set of lights are Depo's with the Mirimoto Mini Bi-Xenon projector upgrade on the low and high beams with 6000k HIDs. They were going to do the installation of the bi xenon for an additional charge which is much more convenient than taking it somewhere else and getting shafted.

I dealt with a guy named Tim. He was flat out honest with me and answered all of my questions and concerns in a professional matter. I remember in the past that the company was a pain to deal with, however, I havent had any bad experiences with them yet. I would recommend them for lighting and acesories cause there are lots of lighting shops here in socal but the quality of their products are not as good as Umnitza.

5 stars for customer service. Tim K. made the ordering process a breeze. Can't beat the lifetime warranty on the angel eyes, either.

I've had both Japanese and German cars that I've ordered aftermarket, custom, and specialized parts for from companies all over the US, Europe, and Japan. Just placed my first order from Umnitza for E46 330ci headlights and fogs. I chose Umnitza on the recommendation of a local shop.

Thim helped me and was very informative. He's a great guy, knew his stuff, and seemed to genuinely care about getting me the right parts the first time. He knew everything there was to know about his products and took the time to educate me on their application/install in my E46.

Thim's customer service makes me feel confident that I'll get my parts in a timely manner, they'll install correctly and easily, and, if I do have any problems, I'll be taken care of quickly and professionally.

I'll update with another review once everything is installed.

I can't speak for the quality of Umnitza's modified headlights, as I ordered the stock DEPO headlights and a couple of other items. But I want to put in a good word for their customer service. There was a mix-up on the order, so I e-mailed them about it. Within a few minutes, they responded. A few e-mails later (always with an almost immediate response from Umnitza), the problem was not only resolved to my satisfaction, but to my advantage (I ended up with more than what I had paid for). The shipping was quick too; using their cheapest shipping method, I got the package three days after I ordered it.

These guys are great. I was looking for HID fog lights for my BMW E39 because I wanted white and the current ones have a blue tint. They actually photographed 5000K and 6000K HID bulbs and emailed the photos. This is only a $24.00 sale, I was amazed to say the least. I can highly recommend Umnitza.

Thanks for the help guys!
