help with speakers audiophiles...

Ok, I dont know what to get focal utopia or polykevlar for components. Dont know what size also. 5 3/8 or 6.5. I heard 6.5 is hard to fit. Also what amp is the cleanest for not too much money. I wll be spending around 500-700 total. The more money I can save without sacrificing too much sound quality the better. Are the stock rears good enough for fill in? Help me out guys. Thanks.

Well first things first is I can tell you there is a WORLD of difference between the utopias and the pk's. Go for the 165W3 if you are looking for a 3-way system or just the 165W for the 2-way system. As for an amp, I am using a tube driver. They are not the cleanest amps but that is only because they are tube based so they have a "warmth" built into them. This is amazing when you listen to acoustic music but if you listen to say techno or rap or something then a zapco amp would work very well. Both extreemly good quality amps. Any more questions? Also, dont be shocked at the price of the utopias... they are up there.

thanks. did you have a hard time fitting 6.5's in the door pannels without modding it. i heard the mounting dept for focals are very deep. also, do you think if i go all out and get utopia's in front if the rear stock speakers will be suffice for fill ins. thanks again.

165w3 will need kickpanels im pretty sure. You cant fit 3 ways in the stock locations. Focal utopias 165w would work fine. 6.5 arent a problem, at least i know they fit in the coupes since i have 6.5 in the fronts.

As for your price range... hmm... kinda low. Since Focal 165w run about 500 on the internet. Plus any decent amp thatwill power them would cost around 300 or more. Lets not forget about labor to install these.

I had the Phoenix Gold T400.4 which is around $270... great amp to power the focals. I had it in my old car and i do miss it.

And yes, the stock rears will be fine for rear fill.

I cant say right now since im underpowering the rainbows. So its hard for me to compare. But as of right now, focal utopias 165w were better... but you should go out and listen to both sets. My ears might be uglier than yours.

crazybimmer has a very good point that I wanted to touch on. The point is that you have to hear this stuff for yourself. What CB and I are saying is all subjective but normally people would takes the utes over the rainbows but you have to hear them in person I think. See if you can find a stereo shop thats got em. I know tweeter on the east coast is getting ready to be a retailer of focal.
