snap out of 'starvation mode'

so I've been on a new eating schedule for a while where I try to eat dinner by 7 or 7:30 latest, hours before I go to bed. However, I can't help but thinking that since I'm eating way earlier than before and trying to get more sleep too, doesn't my body go into that "starvation mode" overnight, right in time for breakfast?

Sometimes I have a long day of classes and don't always get a chance to eat, and I'll be super hungry by the afternoon. Whats the best way to come out of 'starvation mode' after a long day of not eating much?

couple of things...

-first, eating 3 meals a day is bullshit, you need 6 (every 3 hours or so)
-second, have another meal around 10PM immediately before you go to bed that consists of slow digesting foods, like casein proteins (milk, cottage chesse, etc.) and esssential fats (almonds, peanut butter). this will help you be full throughout the night.
-finally, to combat catabolism in the morning eat fast acting protein (whey) along with starchy carbs (fiber cereal, wheat bread, oats, bananas, etc.). breakfast is the most important meal of the day for the average joe trying to stay healthy, and Im in school too but I always manage to blend up a banana, whey, milk, and oats shake before class. you'll feel much better throughout the day.

I've always been under the impression that you shouldn't eat after about 7/8pm which is what I always do. Might try the slow digesting food meal as I usually wake up hungry.

It would probably be better if you could prevent yourself from getting into starvation mode in the first place. Grab a protein bar or something to snack on if you're desperate as it will at least keep you going.

The time of day you eat really has no corrolation to weight loss. The importance is eating smaller meals more frequently, 4-6 smaller meals spread out by about 2-3 hours. Here is a good plan:

7am breakfast
10am mid morning snack
12:30 lunch
3:30 mid afternoon snack
6:30 dinner
9:30/10 late night snack

Depending on when you workout you can switch around a meal and a snack. I usually like to have a small snack before I workout and then a meal after.

that's been debunked. Tests concluded no susbstantial difference in weight gains between two groups of people who ate food before bedtime and those that didn't.

Just make sure you eat the right food.

Calories is calories, apparantly your body doesn't care what time you ingest calories - as long as it is under maintenance calories, you will lose weight

big reason most say don't eat too late at night is b/c your body can't maximize digestion of food if you go to sleep straight after. so eating at, for instance, 10pm is fine provided you don't binge and go right to sleep.

ah so i guess it's more about what you eat rather then when you eat it.

robbing with a sword is a good thing
