I have a couple of those (not serrated, though). They're good EDC knives and not too expensive. I bought a Benchmade a couple of months ago and retired my Leeks, but still have them.

Trying to build something to use the magnets in my hand so I don't have to carry a house key, or at least don't need one. The hall effect sensor will be triggered by the magnet, telling my arduino to power up the servo and lock/unlock the door.

wouldn't the hall effect sensor react to any magnetic source? seems a bit insecure.

They're also now starting to sell deadbolts that work with a key or by detecting your phones NFC connection.

Might want to utilize the arduino with a commuincations scheme with your cell which you could then do a rolling code or crypto on it.

Yes, but obviously I'm not going to go around advertising that it's hooked up and where I live, let alone where I decide to place the mm sized sensor. Also, depending on how I wire it it will only activate under a given polarity. So you could go up with the N end of a magnet and get nothing, but the S end would activate it.

I can't wait until I can afford an entire set of Cleveland irons, my 56o wedge is probably my favorite club.
