trunk lights

ok i dont know if everyones is like this or just 323i but on the trunk where the reverse light is there is a red place below it for a light to, hole and everything...well i took it apart to look and see why there was no bulb in it and they have a place for a bulb to go but there is metal over it.. and there is only 2 wires going to the fixture instead of 3...anyone know how to make this turn into a brake or constant light? I hate having something on my car that can be used but isnt, also i think it retarded looking how thats the only peice that doesnt light up! let me knnow fanatics!

Yeah I hear ya. I think I am going to light mine up with red superflux LEDs. I also don't like it not lighting up.

WOW thats about retarded, i dont want to use them as fog lights thats stupid i want to turn them into brake or constant lights at night...if there is no DIY for that ill make one...

well, you can just use that DIY as a guide to installing a bulb in that area...he just wired them as rear fogs, but you can wire it anything else. if you wanna make it a constant light at night like that picture below...then i THINK you can connect it to the purple/black wire from the wire harness that connects to your tail lights...thats what I connected my DDEs to

hmmm should i run a relay from the trunk lights or just splice the wires and run off the power??

hmm i got to find a way to make the ground connect...this isnt as easy as i thought, but ill find a way, i want to make one that you DONT have to buy a european bulb holder...

I just had that trim panel off.....and I don't see any wires that you can splice into. You'd probly have to fish some wires up from the tails, and that looked like a PITA. But then again, my whole trunk has dynamat covering most of it.

Yeah I fished 4 wires up for future use. had to take the "snake gromit" off and fish the wires through. Was a pain but will be worth it in the near future. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread, and when I am done I will also post pics. Good luck Bros!

I think im gonna have to see how much replacement euro holders cost, i have tried many things but nothing will hold the new bulb in place, because there are two metal peices missing to hold it...

ok what did you use to connect the new bulb in the connector that was blocked from metal ontop...i dremeled a circle and come to find out there is no ground metal peices extened on the inside of the socket...?
