This is for the 2001 33i. I have a question of how this installs. Any pics on this?
That kit is only for 2003+ BMWs, you will need this one instead:

OK thanks, I didn't notice on the other one which year it was for. Must have missed it. So the one you have linkded here...does it just plug to the back of the radio, then the other accepts the output from an ipod or mp3 player?

Ok sorry...just read your website and here is what it has:

The Blitzsafe AUX interface emulates a CD changer and lets the OEM head unit activate its audio inputs. This makes it possible to feed in an audio signal of an MP3 player or portable CD playe to the prewired CD Changer connections in the trunk.

Models Supported:

1999-2006 3-series, including M3 (not for e9X models)
1997-2003 5-series, including M5
09/1998-2001 7 series
2004-2007 X3
2000-2006 X5
2001-2002 Z3, including M-Roadster/Coupe
2003-2007 Z4, including M-Roadster/Coupe
2000-2003 Z8

*******************************
So this installs in the trunk?

anyone have a part number for the dealer cable?

also, i have a 2000 323. Can i get a BMW Business CD of a 2004, and put it in my car and get the aux in to work?
any issues with dsp, HK or something i dont know of? Mine doesnt have those, just the 10 spk system. should i find out if it came off a car with the HK? does it make a difference?

its cheaper than the ipod adapter. i found a business cd on craigs for cheap..

Can you still get the BMW original ipod interface for the pre 2003 3 series? I know BMW used to sell this, but only seem to be able to find the new version for 2003+ now.

Not working for some reason...

Hi

I've done this, after buying an aux kit from Connects2.com that did not work. This too has not worked for some reason. My car has never had a CD changer that used the aux so does it need activating somehow?

My car's a 2005 05-plat E46, the stereo is dated 15.2.2005, and going into the settings:

SN V 1067599
SV 05-05 630
RI 02
GAL 3 (can be changed)
Then displays radio (FM etc), frequency, and 2 numbers that vary with the music
DSP 0 V 13
TP-V 0 (can be made +ve or -ve)
Then a display that's all noise
EUROPE
AF AUTO (can be cycled to AF off, RDS off etc)

Help!!! Why isn't it working?

I'm going to borrow a multimeter tomorrow to check my wiring is good, but I've done it a few times already, and the fact the aux kit I bought doesn't work suggests to me maybe it's my stereo...

Checked wiring, it's all in continuity with no short circuits - so why is it not working??

Just finished...thanks for the write-up. I hid my input connector inside the sunglass compartment.

Cables - Free, old computer cables like OPs
Auxillary Input from Radio Shack [274-0246] - 2.49 http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...51&tab=summary
Heat Shrink - 3.49
Retractible Stereo Cable - 9.99

Total: $15.97.

For those of you who go this route with the aux input from Radio Shack. The tip of the plug is the Left-Channel (conn. 5 on Aux Input / Pin 9 on HU), Right-Channel is the middle of plug (conn. 2 on Aux Input / Pin 8 on HU), and Ground is the base of plug (conn. 1 on Aux Input / Pin 4 on HU).

Well, FYI for those reading this, tried home made direct without resistors/capacitors, then made cable with resistor & 2 capacitors as per guide found on internet and still nothing. All soldering checked and in continuity / etc. Tried Connects2.com BMW set up and didn't work. Reluctantly bought BMW aux input, worked straight away. Not sure if this is peculiar to 05 version, but it worked first time! Also, doesn't cut out when powered by cigarette lighter, so no need to insert a ground loop isolator - result!

Dementievafan, if you read the earlier pages of this post, it tells you which ones this works on, pretty sure yours is too early...

I found when making my own cable that i had to switch the positive/negative/ground wires around on my cable connector going into the HU. Perhaps that might have been it?

Interesting that the cigarette lighter doesn't cause ground loop... I've found that certain devices like my Garmin GPS do cause a ground loop whereas my Nokia phones don't at all.

Will someone w/ the right skills, PLEASE help me figure this out This is in an 01 X5, so the pins are different than all the E46 writeups i've seen...but it has the cd changer port, so it has to be able to be done someway or another.
