I am quite the idiot it turns out.

Playing around with the circuit i noticed that the sound improves with the increase of capacitance. I got as high as 1000uf. but the point at which the difference was noticeable was just 0.1uf...i knew something had to be up with the caps i bought, and yes, it turns out i bought 220pf which is 0.00022uf. Ordered new parts today. Feel pretty stupid.

Btw, is 0.22uf really the ideal? It was working perfectly fine at 22uf. Like i said, even 1000uf works, it just takes about 60 sec to turn on. I'm using a home made charger which belonged to a different phone and it adds a bit of static when connected (more then another charger i tested), so maybe higher cap would be better for me???

0.22 uF is what's in the OEM cable, but I guess go as high as you'd like

I just got a stereo wire from a local store and it has a blue, white, and yellow wire. Which is which and where should I plug in everything?

doesn't matter, you designate which is which.

Are you serious, how so? Doesn't it matter what the ground is from the stereo headphones?

wires are wires. connect them to whatever you wish, just dont make blue on one side ground and on the other one of the signal lines.

lol you did that kinda backwards from the "professional" way to do it... i think...

black (blue) is left
red (yellow) is right
white? (white) is ground..

but it totally depends on who your asking. Electitions and home theater / audio engineers do it differently lol

what matters more is that you keep it consistent ...

So this doesn't matter?

I'm not sure if picking whatever I want for my stereo is wise, I don't want to connect the tip to ground and ground to left, etc....if you guys know what I mean...

did you even read the thread?

This pick is from the first post

the random wires inside that arent in a second rubber tube thing are ground... the ones that are individual wires are signal wires.

wait, so let me get this straight. when you said you picked up stereo wires, you meant that you picked up a stereo aux cable with those colors?

or do you mean, you just bought the wires themselves only?

we're assuming the latter.

Actually now I can see that picture, and on my stereo headphones, all 3 wires are wrapped individually, so it's kinda tough to decipher which is ground, left/right. I unraveled the other end I didn't use and saw that blue is the lowest (ground), yellow is middle (right), and white is tip (left).

Just guessing but I guess that's what I'll go with and see if it works.

if you have a voltmeter, just check for continuity from the plug and the ends of each wire. you can look up the plug diagram for it to tell you which is which. would be the best way i guess
