Check to verify that the the M3 is prewired for cell phone, little round label in bottom of trunk lid. I think all US destination M3s have it stock.

You also may need to add a Bluetooth antenna (~$25) which goes under the center arm-rest console ash tray. My bt antenna was already installed stock.

On my 330 convertible it was super easy to install. It should be very similar for all E46s, just 3 bolts and 3 plugs. BMW Instructions are included in the package along with the ULF & pairing button.
