This makes me wonder, Z3 has 3.2?

I only know Z3 has a 3.0 engine, but where does the 3.2 engine comes from? (MZ3)? And if I get this engine for my 99 E46, will it works? (Samir??) And what parts will I need to make it to works. TIA

Samir did the conversion on his old 323i (rebadged it to 332ii even). I don't think he ever got the gauges to work, but everything else did.

I don't think that makes sense, cuz the 3.2 in the 2001 Mcoupe/roadster puts out 315 hp. The 3.2 in the previous Mcoupe and roadster (2000 and earlier) had the same E36 M3 engine w/ 240 hp...

I think I recall Samir saying it wasn't worth the time and effort to do this, and I would think not as well for 240HP, but if you were to put on an AA turbo on it....great googly moogly it would be a killer. But I don't know how much tranny work would be involved to get this to work, or if your rear end will handle it, I'm still in the boat of "will the rear end survive the amount of mods I plan on doing"....guess I'll just have to wait and see. Sounds like a lot of work FTHM.....best of luck to you :smile:

the engine in the 01> M Coupe and Roadster is the same engine as the M3. the difference in horse power (315 vs 333) is attributed to the different exhaust system I understand

Yes, that's correct! I'm not sure why though. It would be sad if the Mcoupe/roadster didn't have the same power as the M3 or the gearbox cuz they wanted the M3 to be the superior ride :sad:

I've heard the reason why it doesn't have as much power is bce the size of the roaster/coupe doesn't allow the exhaust to be the same as the M3.

When they reviewed the new M Roadster on Top Gear, they said that because the exhaust is not long enough, it had to be detuned.
