if you are going to have to buy a whole new lcm, i would stick with the depo ones. If not, I would go to pacific bmw and pick up some oem ones and demand a refund from the person you bought the aftermarket ones from

How about "kindly ask for a refund..." after all, they work as stated, and look as shown! They are by no means, defective.

no i completely agree... i think the manner in which i was using the work demand and the one you were assuming i meant to use differed...

by demand, i meant, call them up, say you are not satisfied, and would like to send them back as they arne't what you were expecting (therefore not meeting expectations)

I have an 06 coupe and the aftermarket lights are not as bright. I'd tell you to just keep it, but you wont be happy. You know the difference. Try to get a refund or sell it on Craigslist. If you really love the OEM tail lights, I'd say pay the extra $200 or so. It is a one time payment and you'll get what you want.

You would however need to wire up an inertia sensor "ABLAS" (name of the kit that sold to the link above(Cadent Tech) to get them to work in conjuntion with how hard the car stops(forward motion). But it's an inertia sensor, not the same as the stock BMW was that's hooked up with the braking system. That kit is good as you don't need to buy the connecting cable set. But a DIY way can be wired up/made to work with some resistors. I've had mine for over 2 years.
hey...can you post a pic of your tails on and with the brake lights and show what you mean by the Brake Force Lights? just curious...

I'm suprised no one has brought up this thread yet. I guess cause it deals with sedans. However, anyways this gives a good review of why OEM kicks the crap out of aftermarket. All in all: Better build quality.

The outer ring (different brightness) are the brake lights that come on when you brake suddenly or heavily in coupes with facotry LED.

Hope Alex doesn't mind me using his pic from another thread:

Just so you know..the Brake Force Display(outter rings)will not work if your car didn't come with LEDs from the factory. Even if you get the LCM flashed for LEDs.
Hey Alex

I tried PMing you buy your full.

So do you have a DIY thread for LED resistors and stuff?

I cleared some out. I don't have my own DIY write-up. But have shown a few people how to do it. I should just do a write-up for the USA people. But I do have 2 quick links handy for the 'inventor' of the fix. It's just so long and drawn out(USA and my additions at the end of the threads). Add that he bought nice resistors and boards to put them on it looks like a lot of work at first. But for us USA people, A few $1.39 resistors and some wire soldered and put inline was simple. Didn't need the capacitors they used, just took out the check light fuse. It was really pretty easy stuff, and I'm not an artist at all with a soldering iron.

So do you think your going to do a full write up because I know that some people will be really happy you did, esspecially me. I know that yours was successful, so i really want to do exactly what you did.

I don't see anything on Circle BMW's site regarding the OEM LED Tails. Did you call them up or something? Also, do I need to call up Pacific BMW as well? I see the conversion kit on their site but it is listed as unavailable and has no price.

BTW, is it just me or do aftermarket LEDs look crooked compared to OEM ones? The OEM LEDs look lined up and straight when they are lit up but for some reason the aftermarket ones seem to be bent and not lined up straight.

I always thought that too, but I also thought it was just me. Maybe not if you think so also. I suppose we'd have to see them side by side to be sure, but as of now, if I was doing a conversion I'd definitely go OEM and that would be the main reason.

Has anyone purchased OEM LEDs recently? If so, where? I checked Pacific BMW's site but it still showing as unavailable and I have no idea who works at Crevier anymore since Vaheh left. Any suggestions of a dealer that is willing to ship these?
