it's a weight reduction "thing" man. You mercedes benz people should take notes. Bulky cars with gigantic motors that handle like spaceships. I testdrove the e63 amg and was not satisfied at all. Panamera P-car handed my ass to me in a professional way on 664 leaving Newport News.

My Ride: just an M3, sort of
not quite sure what you are saying, you used to own a 7 series, saying an e63 is too fat, yet getting beat up by a panamera? All way too overweight.

atleast the 7 handled well enough to hang with you guys on those turns on route 17...the e63 couldn't even handle well maneuvering thru traffic. I felt like I was riding in a 80's buick roadmaster. Body roll...floating around on every dip and bump in the road. The lane sensor kept beeping telling me i'm drifting in other lanes. (It's hard to keep the damn thing centered, it's a big car...I bet the s class is even worse.)

My old S weighs less than this 5.
The Panamera weighs all of 120lbs less than the E63.
If a standard Panamera handed your ass to you in an E, I'd say it's driver error. This is bolstered by the lane sensor constantly having to warn you, and you having a close race with a W140 S500 when you were in a modified 7.

It's a cost reduction thing. If BMW were so concerned about weight, they would use better wheels, which would shave off way more weight than using worse cooling system parts as they chose to do.

timing is the easy part...remember that! (well, if you have the "tools") Good luck installing an oversized cam.

Long asss inline six cams like to snap in half mid install. just happens sometimes. Only place in the area that will do cams for a reasonable price is auto envy in chesapeake and they screwed up one of my lifters when they did it and would never admit it.

No seriously, if you have the tools...the job is cakewalk. standard harbor freight stuff won't cut it. Come check out my garage in chesapeake...nothing but snap-on and bmw oem certified equipment.
For example...bearing separators, timing gear extractors, clutch centering tools, ring gear lockers etc etc...
