The name change is funny, strategic move to draw attention away from the bad press they were receiving and intended to give the company a modern, soft image. Similar to how phillip morris changed its name to Altria. Linguists, get paid to make up silly words and tell people to use them; I bet that one cost them a bit of change.

i've been there... they have pretty great coffee. the daily grind out in old town ptsmouth is pretty good... but seriously, nothing can beat the coffee i used to make when i worked at the badass coffee out in chesapeake. the beach store has sh*tty coffee (because they don't know wtf they're doing...)... and if the ches store was anywhere else besides cedar rd, i bet it'd still be on it's feet.

for those of us on the east coast who have never been nor lived in HI, it's pretty f'ing great compared to some of our other options here. especially if the barista behind the counter knows wtf they're doing. haha.

I work right by daily grind. I don't think it's called daily grind anymore, I think it's Coffee House or somthing like that. When I started working here in '01, there was a lady that owned it and she would give you like 5lbs of breakfeast food for like $5-6. I could never finish it.

when i went to the VAC for photog classes, we used to always head down there after/before class. there was almost ALWAYS coffee grounds in my coffee... but it was still tamped/pulled espresso as opposed to just button pushing. i like the pulling method better... gives it more of the barista's personality in the coffee. that's how you can tell if the people making your coffee suck at life.
