CZ makes good guns too. They need a bit of breaking in, but that's no problem.

I wear a sport coat when I leave my apartment unless I'm doing something that will get me dirty, just my style, so I can carry my P30 and 2 spare mags in a shoulder holster without anybody noticing (though this isn't my long term plan, I ordered a custom handmade holster and just wanted something different until that comes).

But yeah, I agree, it would be difficult if you don't dress like I do. I'd want something like a Walther PPS or or smaller (Ruger LCP can be carried no matter how you dress, just get a pocket holster for it, or a Ruger LCR on the ankle).

If you guys had decided to come out to the range instead of wasting time on the internet tonight you could have tried out my P30, 1911, Sig X-Five, and Ruger Mk III and see what you do and do not like about guns and know what things are important to you.

We already discussed Kahr, right? I thought I'd mention that come to think of it they make the second gun I've seen with fixed sights that were actually zeroed.

yes we did kind sir. I def dont dress for carry, plus im skinny as hell so things on my hip and torso tend to show. i can run back to that car in a zig zag real fast tho,

Ill take you up on the range offer when its warmer, unless your range is indoors, did you say, i may have missed it with the BS drama earlier. Plus i left Hampton Roads at around 6pm today im in NC right now. Drill weekend.

Fayettenam?

There is an indoor that's 24/7, but the range part isn't heat, just gets radiant heat from the lounge area...pretty chilly at night.

It's actually easier to carry when you're skinny. Sure, you don't have as much depth, but you also have more wiggle room in your clothing an a waist that goes in to stick the butt of the gun into. The nice thing about VA is open carry is allowed. You could get an inside the waistband holster (something like http://www.miltsparks.com/VM-2.htm) and only the butt of the gun will peak out, so it won't be in everybody's face.

The gun has to be attractive to me, make me want to touch and grip it,
when i palm a gun, it has to feel right and natural in my hand, some guns just arent ergonomic to me, thats the 1st thing,
then when i mate that hand with the support hand it has to still feel good somewhat.
then weight
then trigger pull, not too heavy, i can deal with a long pull, as long as its smooth and consistent.
then the recoil, like glocks for example, i HATE the way they feel in my hand and when i fire, they just feel, like there is no precision, no finesse, its almost unpleasant. The trigger pull and recoil should be such that i want to keep firing.

then sh1t like mag capacity, and all that other crap comes in.

no Seymour Johnson. never been on pope.

open carry to me is like wearing a gun that says, HEY, BAD GUY LOOK AT ME I HAVE A GUN, HAHAHHA!!! to me its just too loud.

my buddy has a outside holster that he wears sometimes, and with the right shirt, it looks cool, i guess that would be an option for me, i dont mind if it gets exposed sometimes, i just dont want it showing if im walking or just standing there, if so, i rather just leave it.

What you want is a TX Ranger rig

The guy who made that rig is making my outside the waist holster actually. Hand-cut diamond stamping, full cowhide lining, thumbbreak (because the only way you can carry somewhere that serves alcohol for consumption on the premises in this state is openly), with a matching belt. Granted it'll all be covered up 99% of the time, but that 1% when it's not it'll be pretty lol.

BTW, speaking of my holster that's on order, anybody know any silver/goldsmiths? I need a Concho made, but of VA not TX, and nobody makes that.

See the medallion on this holster?

That's a concho. I want something like that, but Virginia, or the Virginia state seal.
