Weird question. Stress testing it? Ha. Really if it's in good shape with fresh fluids it'd go for a while, if anything I bet the cooling would be an issue if the fan couldn't pull enough air through the radiator while stationary. Just my pure speculation though.

On the boosted motors, I had used old-school thrust bearing center section turbos. Compared to the newer garret ball-bearing units coking of oil was supposedly more of an issue on those older types hence the shorter change interval recommendations. But like you say, driving conditions play a huge part in everything.

In good shape to start, you aren't going to kill it anytime soon. That thing will last until it severly overheats, and if you have a good coolant system it might never happen.

That said, it will damage the **** out of things and hurt the engine in the long term.

Whats the redline on that car, if you're not over-revving it you should be ok. Or is this hypothetical situation something like you went into work and someone left a brick on your pedal with the car on all day?

You guys aren't worried the slapping about of rods and pistons moving out of unison as a result of their being no load? I know in 2-stroke R/C engine this was an issue. I also know MB used to say (back in the day when they gave 6 different tire pressure recommendations depending on the situation and expected owners to know about cars) to avoid no load revs over 3000rpm
