Question about service intervals...

My mom's car, a Toyota Land Cruiser, goes in for service like every 3000 miles or so. Now I know there is a huge difference b/w a Toyota and a BMW, but my car says that its first service is in 11,000mi and I have 2900mi on the car. Is this right? Do I need to do nething else to the car before this like change the oil?

BMW says you don't. Most guys on this site would probably disagree with that. It really depends on you and how often you wanna change your oil. Some peeps here do it at every 3000. I just changed mines at 5,000 miles. And when i drained it out, it was pretty damn dark. After that first oil change, I would definitely change mines more often like every 3,000. And oh yeah, I have about close to 6,000 miles total and my onboard computer reads 8,500 for my first service. I guess I drive it pretty hard.
