Guess it depends on condition and extras but i would think about $6k.
2004 R1 had big changes with less weight and more power. Good Luck!!

Yeah, 6k seems like a really decent price. Depending on the condition, who's been riding it, has it been down, etc...I may pay a little more than 6k.

There is a big difference between the 2003 and 2004. Yamaha cosmetically changed the looks as well as performance.
Typical stock 04 R1 puts out aroud 147 - 153 rwhp. 03 R1's are around 135 - 140. Peformance wise, 03 R1 has more torque down below than the 04, but the 04 has insance power top end ( 7,000 rpm +). I would say for a mint 03 R1, I wouldn't pay more than $ 6,200. 2004 R1 can be had for $ 6,500 - $ 7,000 from what I've seen. Good luck which ever year you decide to buy, at the end of the day, It's an R1 with more power than you or I can handle. Be safe. Last edited by R1blade75; 02-22-2007 at 12:34 PM. $ 5,000 may sound doable, but there are a lot more bikes out.
