weather stripping replacement

does anybody know how to take this piece off ive tried pulling it but i dont want to break it and i need to take it of to replace the fluffy velvet door trim that is falling apart..ive searched but couldnt find anything...TIA

If this is what I think it is, you need to soak it in adhesive removal solution/heat it up/razor blade it off. It's a messy job.

No, it's held by 6 clips or so. The bottom part of the plastic clip snaps on the metal below and the upper part slides into the plastic cover, so in order to remove it, you need to slide the plastic to the right or left, sorry can't remember. More PITA to re-install it. Clips will likely break, so better get replacements too

I pulled hard and the clips came out. Replacement is the harder part. Slightly lift the cover and spray some soapy water in there. This trick works for most clip removals on the E46.

I don't have a solution, but I admire the problem.
