Exclamation What are bad water pump or pulley symptoms?

I have a 99 328i. And it makes this weird noise when accelerating and at idle. I think it might be the water pump or it's pulley.

What are common symptoms of a bad water pump or pulley?

Symptoms of a bad water pump are your car overheating.

Symptoms of a bad belt, belt tensioner, or pulley is a squealing sound that increases in audio frequency with engine speed and usually goes away once the parts are warm.

My Ride: Breaks too often
On the water pump stick your hand down to the pulley and try and wiggle it.If its loose, replace it. Over heating will occur if you drive it with the bad water pump for a period of time, and can cause mager damage. you can check the tensioner pully the same way, the 'wiggle' method, and it will cause a screeching or squeeling noise while driving/idoling.

Yeah, that happen to my car a few months ago. I was lucky that my car made it to campus when I started to hear that noise. Then had to tow it.
