pull out your oem mirrors and see if you have the 12pin harness. if so, i think all you need are the euro power fold mirrors.

Great writeup!

FWIW, I bought my power fold mirrors from eBay a couple of years ago and it was pretty much plug and play. I have the 12-pin connector I think. Just needed to buy the OEM mirror control with power fold button and get the mirrors painted. Very easy. I don't remember doing anything with the fuses to get power but it was a long time ago. Memory and heat still work as well as reverse tilt. Also, the button is already programmed to not fold the mirrors while you're driving over 5-10 mph.

Hey all, I have a 04 325ci. Is it possible to do this mod on my car? I read in another thread that the facelift cars may have a ribbon connector and then someone with an 06 had one without a ribbon connector so im confused. Also wha does reverse tilt do? And lastly, if you turn the car off do the mirrors automatically fold?

The answer to your question would be YES and YES I have a '03 325I in Atlanta, Ga. and got a pair of these black carbon fiber mirrors from Mod
Bargains they also come in silver carbon fiber they are plug in play but check pin amount either 6 or 12 from dealership

Anyone have a good source for the mirrors them selves without me getting totally ripped off. I saw some hongkong ones on ebay but they looked cheaply made and they were still 245+ shipping! TIA

Question how about with ribbon connector?

Okay, I installed some aftermarket autofold mirrors in an "05 e46 facelift car. It has ribbon connectors so I did a motor swap. Everything works like stock, reverse tilt and all. The problem is there is nowhere to hook up the 2 wires to the autofold motor. I installed the new switch in the drivers door, but no idea where to hook up the fold motors. Any ideas?

Thanks, Will

i believe the two wires for the foldning mirrors goes to pos #1 and #2 in the 12pin wire hardness. when you press the folding button, those pins will go from 12V to GND. measure it with your meter first

I have sorted the ribon bit out, just can not find where on a car where the mirror memory unit isnt in the door, where the fold wires should go

I believe everything is integrated into the ribbon mirror adjust motor. There is an extra ribbon I am pretty sure plugs into the fold motor. There are no wires or harness connections in the door anywhere else that the fold motor could possibly plug into. I am trying to get someone with stock ribbon auto folds to verify that the fold motor is connected to the extra ribbon. If anybody else knows of someone with stock ribbon auto folds ask them if they can check.

Just a question: your car had the auto-folding module behind the fusebox?

Guys, I did it. It's fantastic!!!!

The only difficulty is that it is damn difficult to connect the positive behind the fuse box

Hi,

I asked at BMW when my car was in for a INS 1 and the tech guy said that if the mirrors are fitted to a vehicle, ribon ones that is, and the correct adjust switch, they should work without any programming etc but I dont know of anyone that has fitted any ribbon type folding mirrors
