BMW E46 323CI Convertible - REBUILD PHOTOS

Hi there,

I'm new at this forum, i'm from Portugal and i just bought a new weekend car!

I bought a bmw e46 323ci convertible from the year 2000, with 105.000 klm in a very poor condition, the previous owner didn't treat it very well, didn't had a service since 2012 and the paint is in very bad shape, 3 years in the sun without being cleaned inside and outside...
The first day i brought it home, the car was washed 2 times and still it was dirty...

Enough talk and let me show you some pictures...

So as you can see the last owner was an asshole...

This 2 plastic covers from the soft top are not working...

The first thing i did, was a full service, engine oil, brakes oil, steering oil etc and also every filter and spark plugs, the belts were ok.
I also put it a new battery the old one was ok but it was to small for the car... so i bought the right one!

Also took the mid resonator, let it make a little more noise

Now the car is in the paintshop, it will paint the entire car and the wheels, i will keep the same colors, hope i can put some pictures of the paint process.

And of course some new goodies so i can give a new and clean look to the car

The car is running good although i have a dtc erro, P0340, camshaft sensor, a new one is coming, and also a new oil sensor will be installed.

Modifications update:

- Car fully painted to original color, DONE
- wheels repainted, DONE
- full service, oil's and filters, DONE
- Camshaft exhaust and intake sensors, DONE
- Oil level sensor, DONE
- Resonator deleted from exhaust line, DONE
- Gauge rings, DONE
- HID lens projector, DONE
- Xenon can-bus 4300k, DONE
- Sport E46 Steering wheel, DONE
- Wrap the interior wood in brushed aluminum, DONE
- Original wind deflector, DONE
- Ebay Headers - stainless steel exhaust manifold , DONE
- full interior detailed
- soft top detailed
- manifold intake from a 325ci

And now a picture of my daily car, a BMW E84 X1 18d

Sorry for my english, i will try my best

Thanks in advanced for all your help!!!

You're definitely on the right track !! You're going to love the brushed aluminum once its done. Luckily you were able to save it from the bad previous owner.

The description for the headers state this "Motor bracket prevents installation and flanges are rotated by about 90 degrees"

So today i went do the paintshop to see the paint process, guess what?

The previous owner used contact glue to install the side indicators...

This and others small stupid things that a car like this doesn't deserve.

The painter says that in the end its going to be perfect!!!

Seriously now you're making me wanna do mine all over again! At this point tho I'd probably be looking for M3 fenders as well to match the rest of the mods. I always just loved those. Your car is gonna be soooooooo sweet!!!

thanks droptop 330ci

I will try not to go that way, since its not a real M3, i bought it with the front bumper and rims already installed, and i really like the combination of it all, also has M suspension from fabric, so i think i will leave it like this

But who knows, time will tell ehhehehe

Continuing with the trims, front doors now.

These trims have real wood

The hard part of this process was disassemble both arm rest's so i can perfectly put the aluminum Vinyl

I think it went pretty well, i'm starting to became a professional at this!!!

So,

Like i said, photos of the paint process, and new photos of the finished job.

Already with the Hid xenon projector installed and xenon 4300k bubls

So i changed the camshaft sensor and the p340 error was still on, went to bmw bought the oem sensor, this error went way, but now i have the error of the other cameshaft sensor...

But it's almost done, almost

Did this past week, 1000klm with it, and it was a very pleasant road trip, it did everything i asked him to do, brakes, engine, comfort etc etc etc

I also took it to the annual inspection, and the oem suspension were 77% efficient, and also the CO2 etc etc were at correct levels for a stock engine
