Finally installed HID kit

well today i just proceeded and installed the kit... i must say this was a PITA.
Me and my cousin removed the headlamps to clean them and stuff... i must say this is the worst headlamp I've ever worked on (everything is so close and it takes loads time to make it fit right...

My kit was an h7 based kit: When installation time came i opened the bulbs and poured some silicone on the outer surface of the bulb... then i inserted in the headlamp and let it dry (i had to do this since this kit didn't came with the bulb cover like the OEM halogen bulbs did)... then i installed the ballasts... one near the intake air-box and the other one i just attached the mounting bracket near the radiator (didn't found any other place to hold it) then i proceeded and mounted the ballast on the mounting bracket...

Everything works good just didn't liked so much the color 6000k (white) i love when it burns on, its like bright white with a crisp of blue... maybe they will be like this when hey burn on.

What worries me is that the engine compartment gets to damn hot so does the ballast, now could this be an issue on the ballasts life???

Also does glueing the bulbs with silicone is this right??

I was told you should mount the left ballast on the windshield washer fluid tank. Ive never heard of siliconing bulbs in, but id think it would shake because silicone is like rubbery.

My Ride: Another Make Vehicle
I just installed my HID fogs on saturday and boy does this car look 120% better than when i had halogens on both headlights and fogs. I had the hid headlights and halogen fogs and thought they were alright but after installing the fogs, definitely looks a lot better.

they won't melt, but they might burn.

the p46's should have the ballasts mounted right on the headlights.

you mean the bulb will burn or you mean the silicone???
Also, are my ballasts in a good location?? jlcool007 just scared me by saying his last car got burned because of this. why should the ballast produce a fire?? arn't they waterproof.

the silicone.

for the one on the passenger side. i'm not so sure. why don't you try to hang/tie them with zip ties from the bumper shocks? they are untouched there. that's what i did when i had the older gen p46's. i just ziptied it to that, and put some double sided tap between the ballast and the bar. not to hold it, but for padding in case i hit something. worked fine until i sold it to go OEM

and only some ballasts are waterproof. but the connections going to them may not be. his may not have been waterproof therefore shorted and some how caused a fire

sorry i went OEM. so i don't have any pictures. but if you take out your headlight. it's the black horizontal rod that's connected to the bumper reinforcement bar. that's what i ziptied them too.
