VSR vented (different style) vented hood

http://www.modbargains.com/product.a...domeVentedHood

well, I've been calculating the costs, and it turns out that $1.5K is not worth a full cf hood that i will be painting anyways. I've strayed away from the overly-aggressive "blind vents" and gone for the more simplistic "cutouts". If i buy a reg...metal m3 hood (probably from a scrap yard), how hard would it be for me (most likely a shop) to replicate those 6 rounded vents on each side of the hood?

Then it would not be a carbon fiber hood

It'd still be lighter than what he has now, though

I'm almost positive Vorsteiner will make you that hood in FULL DVWP (dry vacuumed woven plastic) which is just as strong as CF, just about as light, and MUCh cheaper. I think its just not listed in that product listing but email mike at mike@modbargains.com he should know. Im almost positive they can do it and it will be much cheaper.

in all honesty, you will end up paying more to have a custom hood like this done than you will for the cfr hood which, in the end, will be cleaner, lighter, etc.

You gotta pay to play buddy. Just save up your cash and buy the real deal

We can do that hood for you in DVWP if you just want to paint it. Give us a call or shoot us an email, not an issue to do if you are willing to wait

clearly you don't know how to search

if you type "vorsteiner hood" into google images, this is one of the first results. The hood that nick was talking about from above would look just like the hood posted below. It would be DVWP with carbon fiber vents....seems like the best option considering you are not trying to acheive any weight loss and will paint the whole thing anyways....

LOL I can't imagine a body shop charging over $1000 to cut a few holes. I would also venture to say that an OEM aluminum M3 hood is the real deal, even if Vorsteiner makes a high quality DVWP hood. After all, he isn't buying the GTR style race hood.

Can you send me a price for this hood. I also want to paint it.

I need one for my 2003 330i - it has the M-Technik Body Kit if that makes a difference.
