Installing illuminated RK3

I'm trying to install my illuminated RK3 today. I followed the instruction and took the shift knob apart. I felt my way under the ashtray and detached a plug with a brown and greyish wire to it. The RK3 package comes with 2 red wire taps. how do i use them?? i know this is a silly question but i want to do it properly.

Anyone?? Any comments are appreciated. Thanks!!

all you need to do is run those wire through the red wire taps according to the instruction, I forgot which goes with which...and pinch the taps togheter. I received mine a week ago. It's a nice knob, but the color at night doesnt match the BMW orange.

If there are instructions follow them...? I'd assume one of the wires goes to the positive wire...(not sure which one that is) and the other might have to be grounded somewhere?

OK, mine is installed. Here is what I did:

Pull the old shift knob straight up (don't twist), it takes about 90 pounds of force so watch out for your rear view mirror (I smacked the hell out of mine) . Then remove your shift boot, it just unsnaps around the edges. Now remove your trim around the shifter (2 screws) and unplug the 2 power window connectors). You have to do this in order to get better access to the ash tray light wires.

Now, remove the sun glass bin (there are 2 tabs on the upper inside of the bin, use a flat tip screw driver and pry each tab down while pulling on the inside walls to remove the bin). Now you have access to the main center console screws (there are 4 of them - 2 on top and 2 on bottom). After this is removed you have free access to the wires for the ashtray light and the cig lighter.

The ash tray light has a red/gray wire (positive 12V) and a brown wire (ground). Connect the RK3 converter box red wire to the red/grey wire and the RK3 white wire to the brown wire. I spliced these connections so I still have the ash tray light.

The knob looks great but the illumination color is a yellow/orange not amber.......oh well.
