Hi guys,

Looking through everyone's pictures (nice cars btw), there has to be at least a few of you that needed to get part of your car repainted.. either for aftermarket accessories or for a repair.

So here's my question: have you guys had any trouble matching the titanium silver paint?

I've got a distinctly darker front fender from my driver door and I'm wondering if the body shop used the wrong color (I've heard rumors of different TiAg variants?) or used a yellow tinted clear (if that exists). I even used the "officially recommended" body shop the dealer suggested. It's quite annoying and the excuse I keep hearing is that the paint is difficult to match. I'd believe that except EVERY TiAg I see on the road has well matched paint, so either nobody has had body work done or they know something I don't.

Thoughts or suggestions? It's really getting to me that a slight paint mismatch like that takes so much away from the car...

On my behalf, i got my front, sideskirts and rear painted without any blending and i didnt have any problem with the paint matching

You dont use the paint code Tiag 354, you use the vin# instead. A cheap painter will paint it pretty close to a match, A good shop wont paint it until the paint matches perfectly and will try as meny time as possible until the client is satisfied.

That's interesting, I've always been told you need to have metallic paints blended in order to make a smoother transition to the untouched paint (not that it worked in my case ).

I'll give using my vin# a shot in the future, but do you know if clear coats can have a "yellow-ish" hue? If that's the case, can a shop simply remove the clear and put another one on or does that require new paint as well? The paint looks like a match, but given the appropriate angle the fender paint looks darker than the door.

All depends on the condition of your paint. I get my parts painted from a bmw collision shop so the paint is like factory. My original paint however is slightly darker but really not noticeable unless pointed out. My car though rarely is in the hot sun though. Get a small part painted first to see how mismatched it will be then go from there

I'd like to modifiy for my car, originality and smart style.
