No, just use it for the secondary O2 sensors. So you only need 2. Still no CEL.
to non-foulers!

drilling them only makes the holes bigger, it doesnt shorten the non fouler, yes i did that too, it doesnt fit,

with the ebay headers its practically impossible to fit these non foulers..... BUT what people have done was take it to an exhaust shop and make new bung holes on the mid pipe and place the 02 sensors w/ non foulers there.

You can only use the longs ones, not the combo of both.

I have ebay headers I was able to fit them....its a very tight fit but its do-able. You just need to take your time on it and don't worry if it touches your transmissions its not going to move so it won't break.

It works, this is what you have to do...put one fouler on the o2 and the other on the header and then screw it in. It may touch the tranny but thats fine.

Great write up BTW!!!!
I just picked up my car today after the header install!! Running great! ** knock on wood** A lot more power and response. --- NO CEL drove it a bunch around town and what not today. I bought the header for 330xi from boombop on ebay. So far so good. Talked to the mechanic for about 30 min when i picked up the car. HIS THOUGHTS: "That was a royal pain the Hester". aka A$$. 8 hr job quoted. And it really took them like 10 hrs. FYI they didn't take off the bottom sub-frame. They apparently had enough room to do it while on the lift.

quick question...planning on doing this to my beater accord but...
in essence, seems like this diy is basically pulling the o2 sensor out of the main stream of exhaust, so it doesn't "see" the fumes as much...but if such a simple fix overcomes a lot of these CEL errors...what's there to say that putting something over the o2 sensor won't accomplish the same or similar effect? for example (just grabbing some ideas out of the blue)...what if i pulled out the o2 sensor and placed a metal cap or lid over the o2 sensor, and plugged it back in? perhaps poke a few holes in the metal cap so that it's not TOO restricting...would something like this do the trick as well? i haven't pulled my o2 sensor out yet, and have never even seen one in real life - all i know about o2 sensors are from what i've seen online. so forgive me if i'm missing something obvious. i'm more than willing to try this non-fouler diy but wanted to throw this out there before trying it. |
