stumbled on this thread...really considering this after getting my bend fixed. Though i first have to look for a spare set to run on lol. Anyone willing to lend me their spare set? lol...
Awesome rims, simple writeup too. Just a bit worry about the rivets since mines are fake rivets.

So I started sanding my rims, they need a complete overhall. As I'm sanding the lip with water sandpaper, everything is turning black...not sure if its just build up of grim or what have you. Keep whiping it down. It was really rough, now smooth to touch. After I'm done sanding, prior to primer, should I use asatone (sp) to get all the rest of crap off the rims...they are pretty caked when I bought them...m3 contours....17"

Someone said they painted their grills!! I want to do this ... So, I mask off the inside with the slots and sand the plastic just to rough it up, then hit it with some black spray paint. (using the multiple coating technique) then clear a few times and they'll be fine? I mean worst case scenario, I buy new ones for $35 right lol
EDIT: Got it. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3830

bump but figured this will get answered quick. Using the 150grit to take pair off and paint thinner will leave kind of a brushed metal look.. I think"hey it's me Alec" had this finish on his old rims. Would I need to put and sealer overtop to give it that brushed look or just leave it?
