E46 325 SMG Launch Control?

I test drove a 325 with SMG and I liked it alot. I know the ///M cars with SMG have LC, but would a 325?
If so, how do you do use it?

I remember the non-M E46 SMG's = SMG 1 (also available on E36 M3 in the US)...

SMG 1 = no LC if I recall correctly...

Launch Control

e46 m3 SMG tranny has different settings. launch control is one of them, and such as sprint driving, normal driving, etc.

Yeah, the reverse gear launches itself toward the ground.

The SSG (which is the "SMG" you referred to) does have a launch control, but it is different to the M3's I think. It doesn't allow you to hold the revs indefinitely. It simply revs up and then once it hits the Launch RPM, it drops it and goes. You cannot hold the revs. Here is a video: http://www.bmw-drivers-data.de/galle...0_lc_0-220.wmv

Also, is your 328 auto or manual? Did the 325 feel faster with the SSG?

My 328 has a Step. It felt really similar, but the ride was better (i dont have sport, the 325 did). And the 325 has SMG not SSG.

the non-M SMG = a.k.a. SSG
They still call it an "SMG" option however...which is why people get confused...
but basically...it came out first for USA on the e36 model M3's (SMG1), and thennn the e46 M3 had SMG2, annnd the current M5/M6's have SMG3...

Yup.
Even though it says SMG on the shifter, it is not real SMG that the M3's have. It is a less-sophisticated system commonly referred to as SSG.

Did it look like this? If so, it was SSG
