Drivers door wont unlock with remote

Car locks when I hit key button..but drivers lock wont unlock (knob stays down) when I open. I do hear it click but button doesn't go up..pass works fine lock\unlock when I dbl click to open..

Anyone have similar prob..possible drivers door actuator?? I recently on wknd disconnected batt and discharged batt current to reset my Icelink..and all worked fine.. wonder if that's done something or maybe a bad key battery..fuse for left side central locking??

for the e46 keys there is no batt, the key charges itself while your driving, i had the same problem for my e46 a couple months earlier, just take your car to the dealer they will reprogram it for free

I have the same exact problem. My pass door will unlock but my drivers won't. I noise you hear is the deadlock unlocking. There is nothing wrong in the door itself. It has to do with the central locking computer.

If there was a problem within the door, the car wouldn't lock on that side either.

The only thing I don't know is if this requires a new central locking computer (general module 10) or if you can get it reprogrammed at the dealer.

I also want to find out if you can put a used module from the same model/option package car.

....

It happens to my passanger side every now and then. Sometimes I gotta lock it and unlock it again for it to pop open.

I had the same exact problem, but for some reason it just went away on its own after a few days. If it hasn't been too long since the problem started, try waiting it out a bit instead of wasting time and money going to the dealer right away.

I have the exact same problem but it only repeats itself once in a while, so I have ignored it. If the driver door doesn't unlock, I lock all doors and hit unlock. And the driver door unlocks.

Me too

Happens once every like 50 times. Usually my gf just stands there and is like while I'm in the car already.

I had the same problem with the drivers door, but main didn't lock the door either. The dealer told me that I need to replace the lock which is also called the door actuator. The part was $170 something and the labor was like $500 something because labo time was 5 to 7 houres on it. I just bought the part and installed it myself. It took me 2 houres and a half to install (Never installed a lock or even missed with a door in my life). It's kinda hard to install it. I didn't remove the window regulator and I was able to do it which saved me alot of time. I am happy that I saved $500 and fixed it
Here is the part number 51217011247. you can look it up in this link to tischer parts http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...&siteid=214672

You always save when you buy from Tischer, it's listed for $112.80. Always make sure that the part you're replacing is the right part that needs to be replaced.

Hope this helps you guys.

Peace

Ok, I get up this morning and my door is still fubured. I get to work, still messed up. Now, out of nowhere, it decided to work properly. I have to decide if I should take it to the BMW place or not. This is frustrating to say the least.

I replaced the actuator last night and it was fairly straight fwd using this DIY from my buddy Reg http://www.tuningemotion.com/forum/s...ad.php?p=49481

The star shape bolt on mine was reverse thread so removal is counter\clock...used a bungie to secure bottom window rail away from lower access hole..removed the torx bolts for actuator and easily slipped out and swapped new actuator.. You will have to remove the door keylock also to centalize the lock rod into the white plastic piece on the new actuator..
