Steering Wheel Controls with a Clarion Headunit
I plan on installing a Clarion DRZ9255 in place of the factory source and i want to retain my steering wheel controls.
i was searching on www.pac-audio.com and found the SWI-X universal control, but was recommended by the individual at Clarion to use the SWI-JACK module instead. i guess my main concern is it stated on pac that the known models of BMW that will NOT work with their modules are ones that use a steering wheel control wire that runs at 5v. i just called the dealership to find out and i might as well have been speaking Arabic. does anyone have experience installing a Clarion HU into a 2005 E46 sedan while trying to retain the SWI??? thanks

I know for certain that the SWI-X will work in the car. I can't speak for the other piece, but if you want confirmation, contact an authorized Clarion dealer in your town and the installers there should be able to confirm for you.
