Stuart- Just wanted to add that everything looks great so far on your Touring!

Uncle Don and TRP - Both your cars look great too.

I just joined the ranks of Touring owners, but haven't gotten to the modding yet. At least the PO was kind enough to paint the trim and luggage racks in body color! It took awhile to find a manual with the factory sport package.

Don't laugh at the rims. Those are the first thing to go, once I decide what to go with. I also want the ZHP front bumper like you guys and Gunnar. Very cool.

It's my DD, having sold my e36 M3 coupe. With two kids, this ride makes life much easier!

I love my car and am happy to have found this thread.

Thanks for the welcome and invitation. But my mods will happen at a glacial pace compared to yours!

Between work, kids, wife, etc, time and money are always going towards competing interests.

Wheels, front bumper and clears are on the short list right now. We'll see how long they take.

dyintorace,

Welcome to the club. Good to have you aboard.

Which motor do you have in yours? I'm guessing NOT the M56. <-- that's a little joke at my expense.

I have the M54 motor as well.

A few interesting facts about my car. I'm the 3rd owner. The 2nd owner had the window sticker, which shows that it was originally a "tourist delivery" car and then shipped to Delon BMW in Salem, OR. I guess that means he took delivery in Europe.

The 2nd owner bought it from Delon after the 1st owner traded it in. I found the car online, bought it sight unseen (but had a PPI done) and shipped it to Florida.

The car is Titanium silver over black leather. It has the Premium package, sport package and Bi-xenon headlights.

I was also delighted to discover (after finally getting the car to Florida) that it has Dinan SW, which the PO forgot to tell me about!

Stuart - Would you send me some more details on your underhood cleaning regimen? Mine desperately needs that treatment, but I've always been worried about damaging some component with water.

Coming at you guys live from BRRacing - they fixed the muffler & installed the strut tie bar for the M3 - it looks GREAT. Works well. No more hitting the motor. What and improvement. I think I'll be able to keep the intake and the exhaust on the car.

Uncle Don & 330_ZHP -THANK YOU for the suggestion on the M3 fitment.

UncleDon / ZHP - what should I expect to pay for the 10mm & 5mm spacers? Thinking about putting those on these wheels with a set of those lowered spring perches.

be sure to buy them with the proper lug bolts (longer)...and about $45 - $75 per set of two...

I have a set of 5mm that I paid like $67 for...Eibach - never used...

I used H&R spacers from Turner Motorsport...

The 10mm are about $95/pair plus $25 for extended lug nuts.

The 5mm are about $50/pair plus $25 for extended lug nuts.
You won't need the front hub extenders.

Where are you located in MD?

Stuart,

I've been reading your thread and it's great to see a fanatic modding a touring. I have an 2003 xiT alpine white with the premium/winter/xenon package. No mods yet other than a set of style 24 e36 M3 rims that I will mount this summer.

Where are you located in MD? My family used to live in Forestville and in the Pointer Ridge section of Bowie many years ago before moving to the Midwest. Looks like you guys are getting some snow this winter.

Great project and keep the pictures coming. Do you plan on adding a cold air intake? I've been debating about picking up a K&N or similar.

Mark

I live in Bethesda and was born and raised in the area. Born in DC at GW hospital, lived in Chevy Chase, then Myersville (Frederick Co), then Edgewood when married (near Baltimore), then Northern VA ....then finally DC for a year while looking for a new home and settled here in Bethesda...

I know the area your family lived in - I have friends in Bowie and Waldorf... (outside of the tons of folks I know from E46 and EM...that live around the area).

Enjoy modding the wagon - this one has been fun and I knew a lot about what I could do from the last three years of research modding the ZHP.

I am not certain about a CAI...I haven't done it on the ZHP and likely won't. Interestingly, the wagon makes more engine noise than the ZHP ever did (prior to the SC, cams and headers)...although the ZHP exhaust is throatier...and thus it may have masked the engine noise.

I would like to find a replacement filter for the OEM airbox for the ZHP (my intake and airbox are now redone in CF and would like to utilize that...but possibly pick up more airflow.

post some pics of your car - I love the AW on Gunnar's wagon and the guy in Baltimore (cant think of his name - but used to work at a dealer...)
