so, either the tensioner was the cause or the car hiccup'ing at startup and the belt bouncing....broken tensioner, belt wasted, ac belt wasted, tensioner pulley for the ac belt wasted, water pump pulley wasted...and of course....the oil pump housing cracked where the belt tensioner bolts to it.

thanks to Chris (Phrozen) I have a possible spare...thanks to Seth I have the main tensioner (I figured it was toast as soon as it happened and called him to grab one from work...thank you....I will borrow the water pump pulley and the belts from the sedan...poor parts car...(although Ash said her car might have one in it)

I guess I will take the NOW two broken oil pump housings to the machine shop and have them weld the broken tabs to each and re-thread the hole (or heli-coil)

I am starting to wonder if the ESS supplied 1750mm belt is too tight and causes some stress to the tensioner

I have to take the front strut assemblies out of the sedan before I can go forward with the repairs on the wagon so I can put the lower threaded sleeve back on the coil-over, adjust the camber on the front and mount the headlight adjuster switch (also borrowed for the wagon - since in my haste during one of the attempts to figure out the noise in the front suspension on that car I broke it)

I also need to take the front strut assemblies apart on the wagon to swap the bearing assemblies that Vorshlag sent (again in an effort to rid that car of the front suspension rattle).

I also now have half of my kitchen torn apart waiting on new oven, new counter tops and a new section of cabinets

Oh yea, and school starts this week

Damn. That's a lot of things up in the air at one time. Good luck with the multiple fixes.

Could be worse - you could live Canada. (/me ducks...)

255/30 19 front and 265/30 19 rear (depending on the tire design, as in rounded sidewalls or different offset wheels, I could go up to a 285 maybe more depending on the wheel et)

The wagon and the sedan are back together, checked oil and coolant on both cars, no signs of blow-by or leakage The repairs I made to the wagon had to be redone this afternoon...we all make mistakes I guess...(this is after I left the banjo fitting on the high pressure vanos oil line loose where it connects to the oil filter housing...and lost 6 quarts of oil before I even made one exit on the beltway...had to have car towed home after wisely turning the engine off immediately when I sensed a problem). I had to take the airbox, MAF, rad fan, alt, ps, sc pulleys, and thermostat housing/upper hose off to get to the lower line fitting to tighten it...I thought I had it installed. Oh well

Spent over an hour removing panels under the engine and back to the differential, spraying down with brake cleaner, wiping everything down to remove the oil.

Okay my wife hates me for ignoring her while reading this thread for 4 hours last night...
It's said every other post, but DAMN man your touring is beautiful! Great job, thank you for documenting the process.

She thinks she hates me now, but she's getting a touring soon and now it has a whole list of needed mods before I even own it. Oh well, she loved me through my jeep phase, lived with(and married me) through my truck years, so I bought her an e46 sedan to make up for it.. Now she will have to survive the touring years to come... After that I get my zhp or m3... Man I love e46's!!!

It's funny... people who drive anything expensive often get labeled by folks who drive less expensive cars. I have found, without exception, that douchebags cover all demographics and incomes. You can be an douchebag in either a Echo or an Escalade.

I need to drive Stuarts sedan and touring the next time I stop by.

Need to feel the difference between the TS2+ and TS3.

Edit: I'll settle for driving the touring...............the ZHP Sedan is too pretty to drive.
