P46 flickering, one side only
Tonight I got into my car and my right side of my P46s are flickering. Not on and off, but from normal brightness to about half brightness, very quickly.
I've had these headlights for a year or so; they always do this kind of flickering when I first start the car but after about ~10 seconds they usually calm down and stay lit normally. Once every month or so they will flicker when I first start driving, but usually if I turn off the car and start it again, the flickering goes away. I've had my light control unit flashed, but only to get rid of my tail lights out warning (I upgraded those to LEDs about a year ago as well). I want to love these headlights but I see so many posts asking for help with their P46s . They have given me a lot of headaches.I did a forum search and didn't find anything to troubleshoot, really. Can Nick from JLeviSW or anyone else out there suggest anything that I might do to figure this out? Last edited by fraylo; 11-19-2007 at 07:28 PM. Reason: clarification |

If it's coming from your xenons, try swapping the bulb from the flickering side to the other side and vice versa to see if the problem switches sides. If so, you may need a new bulb which should be covered under warranty depending on where you purchased from.

Ive had the same problems I am on my second set of bulbs and one of the bulbs just burnt out today. Same symptoms every time. When I got the p46s they would flicker for a couple seconds when i first started the car but eventually the passenger side would flicker just like you mention above. In august I bought new bulbs and they would only flicker when I would start up but then would remain lit perfectly just as it was when I first installed the p46s. They started flickering again, until they totally crapped out on me this morning. I am so tired of all of these problems. I am going to see another fanatic who will check my wiring for the p46s but I know its not wrong. I regretfully say now after all these issues that I wish I never got the p46s. Now I am not saying the p46s are a bad product, there have been numerous happy customers, but for myself I must say that I am an unhappy customer.
But when they worked they were my favorite mod but my overall experience with p46s It is very important to note that experience I had with my vendor was excellent as I was well taken care of and my warranty was honored but I hate having problems like this. |
