Visiting SoCal in spring...

Ok, here is the situation...

The lady and I (she also has a 330Ci) are going to be visiting the Southern California this spring. The details are...well...there arent any yet. I planned on renting a car and just seeing as much as possible for a week. Here is where im looking for local input on where to fly into, what to see, what to not waste time on, resonable hotels, etc.

I have been to the area around LAX airport for a total of 2 hours, and she has never been west of the Mississippi. Any meets or anything planned for the springtime? I know we both would be down for that as well.

Thanks in advance!

as far as meets go, its really too early to tell. if you are planning to come down in the area of about may, you might want to make sure your here for the 3rd as for bimmerfest is on the 3rd.

i think disneyland is a must, i've been to the disney land in florida and the california one pwns the shiet out of it.

you might also want to check out santa monica, hollywood... you know the usual places.

other than that i don't know what else there is... lol.

Ok, fly into SNA (John Wayne). As far as hotels the fun ones cost an arm and a leg so just stay somewhere on the beach if possible. All cities down here have vacation rental properties. San Clemente, Dana Point, Newport etc. are some nice places to stay in. I'll need to check dates but the long beach grand prix is always a blast and if you want a good place to do the nature thing san jecento(spelling?) is the tallest peak in SoCal and they have a tram ride like 3/4 the way up if you don't want to hike too much. As far as beaches stick to the touristy type beaches localism is nuts this time of year. If you want to do surf lessons Hobbie Surf and Sport in Dana Point has lesson w/ good instructors and a good price think it was 1hr or 1 1/2 hour for 40 and please tip the guy. Oh, and you have to eat some in & out while you're here. I'll try to think of some more later.

Sooooooooooooooo many places to go and see...

What do you wanna experience?
LA nightlife, LA culture (almost lol at this one), landscape, nearby natural wonders (Joshua tree national park, sequoia n.p.), foods, water sports, freeway traffic?

If you narrow it down a little bit more I can give you a billion one ideas (that you probably won't get thru because you will spend 1/2 your trip in traffic... ok maybe a little exaggerated)

If you have a free Saturday morning check out the weekly gtg at Ford Motor Co headquarters in Irvine ("Cars & Coffee"). Lots of exotics and you get to see them driving.

Ok, I'm thinking of staying the night of bimmerfest in Santa Barbara, now...where should I stay? I would prefer on the beach or as close to it as possible.

Wonder if I can get a BMW rental? hahaha.

You better start booking. A hotel now in Santa Barbara! And its never cheap. I stayed in some country inn about a block from the beach and three blocks from state st. I think it was about 150.

In Santa Barbara you should visit state st. This is downtown. 500-1000 state st is the college lifeline at night.
Also, visit lake cachuma, the casino nearby, and solvang for only 1/2 your day. Take the 225 for this, I think that's the road number that cuts across the techapi mtn ranges. Driving around the 101 is fine too, but not very spirit driving.and if you want to impress with a fancy old style dinner, old springs cavern is the place to go. Absolutely in the middle of nowhere. Look it up on city search.

there are a few little towns from Santa Barbara to la worth mentioning: montecito, and camarillo (outlets).

And you can rent luxury cars in la. A 3 series goes for about 150-200 a day!!
