trying to help out a west coast heading to nyc

heres my a brotha out if you have time..
ok, touristy things. definetely take her to the empire state building observation deck on a clear night. i think its like 10-15 per person.

central park is free but dont go at night, many pickpockets/muggers/rapists have been know to frequent it.

carriage rides are def. winner for the ladies. theres a ton of scandal with people trying to shut them down b/c they feel the animals are mistreated at night.

rockefeller center is a def must also. the lines for skating car be hours long. day time is your best bet if possible.

st patricks cathedral is amazing. if you have been to europe it rivals their churches, thats free also.

trump plaza, i dont know whats really there but its always a attraction.

circle line cruise around the city. they offer many different options. some are 30 minute tours, some offer dinner and drinks. pricing is according to offerings but the cruise only can be freezing cold. good thing is you get to see everything on the banks of the whole city.

statue of liberty is very close to where you are staying. you can go up inside that also. the circle cruise will take you past this and you would kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

south street seaport is a wharf right by the financial district which is cool to see too but much nicer during the summer months. theres a efw restaurants there and some shops. not much else but it is a close walk from your place.

the united nations building. cant really tell you what interest it would be to you but check it out online. im sure they have some tours and such.

marriot marquis hotel is in time square. you have to eitehr dine at "the view" or go there for drinks. its a revolving restaurant which you can see all of times square and the hudson river/new jersey. food is above average but youre paying for the experience.

if you can pull it off, check this out.

there are a few really good museums but im not too familiar with which ones are good. i know the museum of natural history is the big one.

as far as restaurants:
china grille is an asian fusion style place. great family style food. very chic inside. probably 150 for 2 w/drinks
asia de cuba is supposed to be incredible but i have never been

my favorite place in the city is this steakhouse
again, maybe 150 or a little more for drinks

if you know what rodizio is, its an assortment of meats on a skewer. really fun but might be better with a group. 1 price, they walk around with like 12 different meats and slice you off a piece. you can request what you like or skip it.

for really decent italian food in a family style try
huge portions, very reasonable pricing. real old world italian feel.

if you like seafood, we enjoy blue fin at the times square "w" hotel

there is a really cool lounge on the street level where you can watch people walking times square for hours. its very entertaining.
if you ask there how to get inside there is a lounge up on the 7th floor i think that gets hotttt at night on the weekends but i dont know the name.

lets see what else....anything on park ave uptown is high end shopping. beverly hills style.

the meatpacking district is a lot of fun. its all restaurants and lounges. many are tough to get in unless youre dropping some loot. son cubano is fun. cuban food, young crowd, good music. my buddy is the manager there.

damn i almost forgot....tao. you have to check it out.
one of the hottest spots going. probably run you about $200 for 2 people with drinks. lots of stars head there and the food is great.

a good site to check out restaurants is
