Yeah, new stuff pops up all the time.

Search for the "Carrier" off a 2004+ X3 2.5L auto.

Dude...you ask them how much shipping is, some times it's already included in the price. You can have them fax you a receipt if anything. Most of the time, they are kind of moody on the phone, but they don't rip people off.

Well, where is the junkyard? If they're across the country, then yes, it's going to cost that much. A diff isn't exactly small or light.

i've had diffs from the East cost shipped to me for under $65. i understand that shipping prices may have gone up because of gas but no way should it be over $100. they must be building a crate for it and charging you extra.

You'd be surprised at how much gas prices have affected shipping cost. And I'd rather them build a crate and send it over nicely packed and undamaged anyways. Of course, he's always free to shop around to see if there are any cheaper places.

Ken, (anyone else)

Is it noticeable in regular, automatic driving.

I hate the way the auto shifts, just likes to sit around 3000 and not really pull away that fast.

Having swapped a 3.46 into a previous 5 spd 328 I loved it but that was me controlling the shifts. Not sure if the auto unless I step it, will just defeat the gears and simply be 1 higher up.

Just wondering. The diff is sitting in my garage. I was going to sell....

Long story short, bought 325ci, auto, bought diff - didn't install, sold M roadster, bought m3 vert figured don't need a commuter and dumped the 325ci; now bought commuter 325i...probably should just throw it in I guess.

Joe

It's noticeable in non-"manual" mode driving too. Definitely.

Wow, nice write up. Good info to know before going in. Especially for you 330 guys.

I read and breezed thru all 9 pages. Did you ever get to the track?

Yes. The car ran a 14.9 @ 92 mph.

That is before I got headers and a 50 shot of nitrous. Will be going back this coming Wednesday.

Did you get a time before the diff swap? If not, what would a 330 w/ stock diff do ya think?
