Which LED for the License Plate?
I'm looking into brighter LED lights for my license plate and I've narrowed it down to two different bulbs. I can't really figure out a difference and figured I'd ask the lighting experts haha. Here is one bulb.
39mm High Powered 8 Led SMT Festoon 39mm x 10mm diameter $7.99 ![]() Here's the other one 39mm = 1-1/2" Long 9 LED $6.99 ![]() I don't know which one is better and I don't know what SMT means either. I know it's something stupid to be asking but I want to make sure I get the better LED haha. Which one is better?

Tom,
Try out our V2s, these use high intensity LEDs that are significantly brighter than the V1s. V2 License Plate Lights |

JLEVIS, do u have like a LED package for say, license plates, reading lights, dome lights, visor lights, and rear pillar lights?
How much would such a kit cost, with a few mixed in colors?

We don't do an altogether package but the front and rear turn signals run $40 for the amber or $42.50 for the xenon white with the necessary resistors. The sidemarkers run $10 for amber or $12.50 for xenon white and the license plate lights run $29.99. We carry the interior xenon kit which is non LED but runs $54.99 for the full setup. Here are all the product pages for you:

Let me try to help you out instead of sell you something... SMT = Surface Mount Technology. SMT LED's look like this: ![]() Instead of the dome shape your use to, they are almost flat. Because of their shape, they will typically concentrate light in a certain direction. Your second license plate bulb utilizes the dome shaped LED's. As your probably familiar with, the dome shaped LED doesn't really concentrate the light particularly well, but rather seems to "flood" the area better. If high intensity and brightness is what you're looking for, I would highly suggest you try out the "39mm High Powered 8 Led SMT Festoon" since it uses SMT LED's.

Seem's like the SMT would work better as a license plate bulb. Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it
