Well...was able to grab some quick pics at Porteau Cove between Vancouver and Whistler (BC Canada) and thought I would throw up a couple pics before tossing the winter set up on. We just got the fist snow fall here...luckily it didnt stick, but it reminded me I need to swap my hakkapeliittas on. I love seeing everyones tourings...thanks for all the motivation.

My Ride: M3
Hey everyone, allow myself to introduce myself. I just bought a touring, and I can't wait to start modding it. 2000 323it, 5-speed, Sport package, cold weather package, xenons, and factory hitch, black on black. I think I stole it for $3200. The dealer figured a 5-speed wagon was less desireable than an automatic! It has 200K miles, but has a great maintenence record, including new control arms, brakes, shocks, tires, etc. I'll just do fluids and a new radiator/water pump.

A few quick questions, since I'm not so familiar with these types of mods for a street car (I'm used to my E46 M3 racecar ): what's the quickest/cheapest/easiest was to lower the car a bit (it is alread a bit lower with the sport package). Nothing silly low or harsh, as it will be my daily.

What's the widest wheels/offset/tire size I can fit? I don't mind staggered, and I don't mind rolling my fenders (but I'm not doing any M3 grafting!). BTW, I definitely don't want anything bigger than 18s, and would even stay with 17s (but there are fewer choices).

Last but not least: I want to go with a new front bumper. Hmmm, M-tech II or M3 standard/CSL? Remember, it's a pre-facelift. Does anybody have any experience with Khoalty's $175 version?

Thanks in advance for your help, and inspiration in this thread, Max.

And her'e my other E46:

Congrats on the purchase mate

I have my Touring lowered on an Eibach Pro Kit. See it here.

It's my daily driver and I find them great. I think H&R springs will bring it lower but I have no experience with them myself.

Oh, and get some pics up

My Ride: station wagon
welcome. Its both sad and awesome that you got your wagon for $3200. That is a great price even for 200k mileage, thats a heck of a machine for $3200. Sad that they are down to that price range already.

Lowering simple springs will get you the easiest lowering I have used H&R and would recommend them, but pushing 200k if it hasnt had shocks in the last 100k miles you should probably do a shock and spring update with new equipment. Or even search the forums for someone selling ZHP or lower mileage stock setup and swap the shocks...

For wheels I am guessing your going for looks, but for a simple daily driver, (especially if you have a M3 race car for fun) I would go with 225 or 235 square setup its more than enough traction and the tires will be a good bit cheaper. I run 235/40 all around and they are plenty and I have done some track time with this setup.
