Thank you for the kind words, it is indeed a M Sports pack, ///M badges on the doors sills, steering wheel and gear knob, as well as black roof lining, sport seats and cubed trim.
Things I have done so far is swapped out the 5mt for a 6mt, OEM xenons, 330i brakes all round, 330i silver gauge surrounds, roof rail delete, black grills. The rest is stock for now but a M54B30 conversion is on the cards later this year.

I see these cars that are dropped so low that they would scrape their bumpers and pans and whathaveyou if they ran over a kernel of corn, and I just don't get it!

But that's another useless rant for a thread this old geezer will never start.

Anyway, gizmo, don't go changin'. Awesome stuff. Great upgrades.

The e46 sport pack suspension is low enough for a daily driver, my e36 weekend toy however is a different story...

Yeah, Gizmo. Perfect. Just perfect.

EDIT: Are your CSL Wheels staggered or square? Spacers? Any rubbing at all?

18x8 ET 35 with 225/40/18, rears are 18x9 ET 35 with 245/40/18. The rears I am waiting for stock on the right size (255/35/18) Bridgestone Potenza RE002 to come in as the 245/40/18 is too tall and touches the fender over bumps with weight in the back.

Very clean wagon. I agree with the OEM sport package being great for a daily driver. I just wanted to lower the front a bit to even things out and got the lowering spring perches for the front and that combo to me seems perfect. Currently running ZHP spring/Koni combo with front lowering spring perches. Just a tiny amount goes a long way believe it or not.

Thanks Gizmo... Great info.

hey, alpine003, did you find the ZHP springs lower than the wagon's stock sport springs? (I've searched plenty and read conflicting info... some say the sport springs provide a .6" drop; some say the ZHPs also provide a .6" drop; some say the sport springs are lower; some say the ZHP springs are lower.

I have a touring with sport package, and my new five speed touring has the ZHP springs. The ZHP springs are defiantly lower. I moved my wheels from the silver wagon to my white five speed. White car with ZHP/Koni is lower by it looks like 1/4 inch or so in front.

Anyone know the part number for the lower front perches?

thanks GGray. This is a noob question, but how long do the stock springs last, generally? 100K? More? Do the shocks die before the springs?

Intrigued by the Koni FSD shocks, which they say should be used with the stock springs... (just wondering if it's not worth putting the stock springs -- which have 69K miles on 'em -- back in; say I liked the existing drop with the stock sport suspension, I wonder what would be good replacement springs...)

(I haven't even gotten my car yet, and I'm already parts shopping. Sickness.)

Stock springs will last well over 200k if they are not rusted. Typically OEM dampers/shocks last 30-50k and they are toast.

FSD's are nice I would do the front lowering perch if you have it apart. I am converting my Koni SA's to a coilover set up and running trackable spring rates. Add some nice sway bars like Hotchkiss and your set!

LOL.. I was going to buy your car, you out bid me BUT Ifound another one white five speed.. has a sunroof but I can replace the roof skin later..

Dunno, my touring came with the Sport Package and I went to coilovers and then to the ZHP springs. Height wise, the ZHP seems just barely lower than the Sport Package Touring springs. I would say about 2mm or so.

As a rough reference, My OEM Sport Package Touring springs yielded about 2 finger gap up front and 1 finger in rear. Pretty much the same when I put on the ZHP. With the lowering spring perches, it dropped the front slightly to be more even with 1 finger gap all the way around.

These are the spring perches I got: http://www.supremepowerparts.com/0/0...me+Power+Parts

EDIT: FWIW, if I were to do it all over again, I would do ZHP springs with Koni FSD's and front lowering perches for the ulitmate daily driver setup.

I'm currently running M3 front OEM sway bar and XI rear sway bar but gonna be swapping the rear ZHP to M3 Vert springs to get more spring rate in the back since I'm not running a larger rear aftermarket bar to reduce even more understeer. I have my rear tire pressures up a bit to effectively increase the rear spring rate at the moment to reduce understeer.

More spring (and less sway bar) should give you more mechanical grip around the tracks since your contact patch will remain more glued to the road however in a daily driver situation, I would rather supplement the handling with more sway bar and less spring since you're not taking corners at 9/10's most of the time and comfort is more important on the streets.

We'll see how the m3 vert springs does at the back...

Funny. I totally wrote the thing off when Al had another buyer. When he announced it was still available, I almost choked.

It's on the truck as we speak. I should have it tomorrow!

We had a PPI done before we finished the deal, and the ONLY thing they found at the dealer were worn Control Arm Bushings. The tech said it was in phenomenal shape otherwise. So I'll probably do those myself.

Then, this spring, when it's not so cold, I'll probably look at the other maintenance items it might need, like cooling system and DISA valve (if necessary). And I MIGHT look at the suspension, depending on how it rides. (I'm also drooling over those CSL reps, but I'm guessing I'd do that before summer 2014, if we're all still driving gasoline-powered cars at that point!)
