My Mom's got a new A4 Avant 2.0T. Its quite nice and the styling is awesome. Sad they don't offer the B8 in a manual...

If I were to get an Audi Avant, I'd go B5 S4. If it had to be newer, I'd get a B7 2.0T manual and tune it.

I really like the Audi A4 Avants too but the deal breaker was that the interior was a bit too narrow compared to the BMW 3.

Audi are nice looking but I just can't do the AWD and are too heavy.. I have no need for the AWD. The loss of power due to the AWD and lack of efficiency just does it in for me. They drive like a pig too as they are way on the heavy side. The tuned B5's are a beast though! It's got one tough block.

Tuned B5 Avant's

Not a B5, but worthy of posting:

If I don't go to either an e91 or A4 I might consider a V70R or Subie Legacy GT wagon.

It's funny... people who drive anything expensive often get labeled by folks who drive less expensive cars. I have found, without exception, that douchebags cover all demographics and incomes. You can be an douchebag in either a Echo or an Escalade.

Does anyone have a reccomendation on some coilovers or springs for my '00 touring? I was thinking some cheaper coilovers vs. cup kit sports would be better. I drive mostly dry weather but want something good on mountain roads that I drive on from time to time. That and I can handle some NVH due to my other whip having coilovers. and it being the queen of NVH.

Does anyone know if the application is different for coilovers on a touring vs on a coupe/sedan?

I am running a ground-control set up. It is really the best bang for the buck as it comes with front camber plates and beefy rear shock mounts. GC lets you select the spring rate and uses linear springs. The konis are dampening adjustable. When you factor in the ability to corner balance the car the few hundred extra you spend for coilovers (over a cup kit) is a small price to pay.

There is no fit difference in the hardware, you may select slightly stiffer rear springs and dial the car in slightly different than you would a coupe or sedan.

My wagon is perfectly balanced and aligned with me sitting in the drivers seat

Cool, good advice. Where is a good place to purchase a GC setup? If I remember right GC uses koni struts with sleeves over them correct? I have HKS RS coilovers on my evo and I like them but they are a little bit soft even on the stiffest setting. I want my wagon to be a little mellower for daily use, but still planted. thanks for the reply!
