Stuart - thanks for the praise. Now I just need to save up some cash for power enhancement. I have to finish putting my turbo 2002 back together before tearing into the drive line and sport wagon engine.

jwm5 - thanks. I was hesitant about the mirrors but am really glad I made the switch. Wiring an mod for mounting was easier than I anticipated.

opt1mus - love the anthracite rims. I have always preferred the contrast of dark rims on a light colored vehicle. Just couldn't pass up the deal on these tires and wheels.

Talking E46M3 rear/LS1/T56

I am about to purchase a drop out E46M3 rear end, complete! Along with the subframe kit from Bimmerworld...

I've decided that the M54B30 just isn't gonna cut it for power, so the plan is to swap an LS1/2 warmed over, and a t56 six sped into the wagon....I am searching the salvage pool now for a complete car to purchase as a motor donor... They are kinda hard to find I figure it will take a few months to find a complete car that doesn't go for sky high dollars.

at first I was anti using a non BMW motor until I rode in an LS powered Rx7..HOLY PISS!!! Ahh yeah almost crapped my pants! I have a buddy who builds drag cars, chevy powered, and he is a BMW master tech...What a combination We are going to work a PNP kit to put an LS1/2 t56 into the E46 chassis. Goal is to have 400ish whp... I'll start a thread someplace on the project when we do the motor swap. Motor swap will be more than likely in spring 09 since I am too busy to do it now..

Your touring is fantastic! Did you cover the black exterior moulding with 3M tape?

I don't have an authentic BMW 2002. I have created something that I feel is ultimately better! My turbo almost generates twice the power of the factory version and is oh so much more fun to drive.

Here is a link to an old web page that I made back in the day.

Thanks Honk! I have springs for you just itching to jump in a box and ship out.

I went all the way, removed my window trim and had all ten pieces powder-coated for less than $200. The stealer wants a mint for the shadow line trim.

I even had my M3 mirror bases powder-coated before install because I prefer the two-tone mirror/base look better than the entire assembly painted body color.

Just curious - anyone ever seen a touring wearing the anthracite or diamond black e39 M5 rims?

I have always liked the contrast of dark rims on a light colored vehicle and might think about swapping out my current e90 silver rims for the M5 style when these tires get used up.

Does anyone happen to know the factory wheel offset and tire sizes that were shipped on the e39 M5?

Wow! IF only that offset would fit! I think E39's or 5 series offset are under 20 right? That's like a full inch difference!

I never thought I would find an easier wheel to clean than my previous Type 44 rims, but these are friendly to wash.

I thought about powder-coating these because I had my mind set on going with some contrast but they were new with tires and I couldn't justify the expense to dismount, powder coat, remount and balance a nice set of wheels and tires.

I might think about changing the color of these when I need new tires or perhaps doing a customer two-tone fade leaving the light silver inside with diamond black finish on the outer face.

I'm itching to get these wheels now too. I think their chunkiness really suits the touring.
